THE countdown till Christmas is officially on.
And in the lead up to the big day, you may find your pay cheque is feeling a bit stretched out.
With lots of food to buy, presents to get and parties to attend – it may leave you wondering just how you are going to be able to reach January’s pay day.
But many savvy mums have just the trick to making them £20 richer this Christmas.
The trend is currently doing the rounds on social media, and people can’t get enough of it.

As a member of the Family Lowdown Tips & Ideas Facebook group, she posted a picture of her hack.
Kira captioned the picture: “Someone gave me the idea here last year…. I completely forgot about it, until I opened the tree!!
“I’m defo doing this every year.”
The picture shows a bottle of wine with a £20 note stuck to it.

Her post attracted thousands of likes, with hundreds of people rushing to the comments section to share their thoughts.
One wrote: “I am 1000000% doing this! Not only can I have a beverage whilst doing the tree. But also get a pizza/ takeaway.”
Another added: “I forget what I had for breakfast so it would be easy for me.”
And some saw the funny side of it.
One wrote: “I'd be up in the loft with my arm around the tree, the bottle in the other hand swigging and 20 quid c.o.d just eat.”
A second said: “Ha ha I love the will power of people this year I would be back up in the loft a week later.”
Others were confused by the trend, with one person writing: “I don't understand what's going on with this?”
A woman who was familiar with the trend, replied: “It's a little something (a treat) for yourself, like a surprise when you get the decorations down.”

Others were simply looking forward to seeing if they did it for themselves this year.
