Shopper sparks debate after taking action when her fabric conditioner scanned at the till for 6p more than by the shelf | The Sun

A BARGAIN-hunting shopper has left people divided after causing a fuss over a 6p difference by the till.

As the cost-of-living crisis continues to soar, it's more important than ever to slash the expenses where possible – and mum Teresa Cook is no exception.

So when she realised the prices weren't matching at Tesco, the furious shopper urged fellow customers to be more vigilant.

According to Teresa, she was doing her regular shopping at the British retailer and spotted a fabric conditioner going for £1.19.

The tag by the shelves also claimed that this was an exact price match to a similar product at Aldi and the massive bottle would be enough for a whopping 42 washes.

Pleased with the find, Teresa then headed to the till – but here, she was met with a rather unpleasant surprise, as the laundry staple was more expensive than anticipated.

Warning others, the mum said: ''Be careful in Tesco, shelf says £1.19 but till point scanned at £1.25!''

Luckily for the shopper, after a chat with an employee of store, she managed to sort it out and get her money back.

''I queried it and got a refund for the difference.''

But Teresa's drastic actions soon sparked a fierce debate on Facebook, where some reckoned fighting for pennies was a waste of time.

Someone else insisted that Teresa had no right to complain, saying: ''Still cheap though compared to other places.''

Fortunately, amongst those engaging in the discussion were also people who agreed with the mum.

One shopper said: ''Thanks for the heads up it might seem like a couple of pence but if this is the same across a few items can soon add up.''

A person reading the post shared on Extreme Couponing and Bargains UK group agreed: ''Don’t know why everyone is laughing. What if a person has not a lot of money.

''And is literally counting the pennies. If they do this on a few products they won’t have enough to pay for all their shopping.''

''Those laughing at someone counting 6p I hope you’re never in a position where you have to do this!'' a fellow shopper hit back at the meanies.

''We’ve all been there you’re not better than someone just because your situation has improved now!''
