The Countess of Wessex this morning, October 12, took the time to read the Book of Condolence for Queen Elizabeth II at the Residence of the British Ambassador to Ethiopia in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. Sophie looked emotional as she turned the book’s pages, seemingly about to cry.

For the occasion, the Countess opted for a simple but classy look: a navy blue blazer and a plain white top.

It seemed that she was also wearing a pair of smart white trousers.

But what stood out was Sophie’s jewellery. The royal donned a thin chain with a small, diamond pendant hanging from it.

This pendant matched her engagement ring, which sat on her finger beside her wedding ring.

Sophie’s engagement ring is seldom talked about, but it is a beautiful piece featuring a two-carat diamond with two tiny diamonds either side of it.

Daena Borrowman from at jewellerybox previosuly spoke exclusively to Express.co.uk to offer her analysis of the ring.

She said: “Sophie, Countess of Wessex was proposed to with a trilogy diamond ring from the royal jeweller Garrard.

“The white gold ring features a two-carat central oval diamond flanked by two smaller heart-shaped diamonds.

“It is worth around £105,000,” the expert claimed.
