Zara and Mike Tindall love to wear matching colours and accessories, and it’s all down to the fashion designer Annie Miall, who has styled the duo in recent years.
It not only looks excellent in pictures and is aesthetically pleasing, but it also subliminally conveys a united front between royal couples.
For instance, after Prince Harry released his memoir Spare, the Prince and Princess of Wales visited Merseyside wearing matching blue and green colours.
Mike and Zara have coordinated their styles for years. One key example of this was at the Platinum Jubilee in 2022 when Zara looked fabulous in a hot pink £3,200 Laura Green coat dress.
However, this coat featured white piping, which was mirrored by the flecks of white on her husband’s pink tie.
Meanwhile, Zara’s lilac £495 Aspinal of London clutch bag and £445 Emmy shoes matched Mike’s lilac waistcoat.
A second example of Zara and Mike matching was at Royal Ascot in 2022, when the mother of three again chose the designer Laura Green for her pale pink dress.
This pale pink dress had deep fuchsia buttons, which was reflected on Mike’s matching tie of the same colour. Zara also wore £179 fuchsia heels designed by Karen Millen.
On another day at Royal Ascot, Zara wore an £865 dress from Anna Mason, with shades of blush pink, lilac, grey and magenta.

Mike’s darker purple tie matched the darker colours on Zara’s dress, while his pale pink shirt matched Zara’s pale pink £825 fascinator from Sarah Cant.
At Derby Day this year, Zara and Mike stayed away from pink and chose monochrome stripes instead. Zara wore a £439 black and white dress from Ralph Lauren, which matched Mike’s identical striped tie.
When the couple attended Kate, Princess of Wales’s Christmas concert in 2022, Zara chose a £369 merlot coat from Karen Millen, which was the same colour as Mike’s tie.
Zara wore this exact same coat again at the Cheltenham Festival this year. She wore a slightly different blue Veronica Beard trouser suit on another day at Cheltenham.
Princess Anne’s daughter chose to match Mike’s burgundy tie with her Somerset Millinery fascinator instead.
Finally, at King Charles’s Coronation in May, Zara looked ethereal in a £2,900 Laura Green blue coat dress.
She chose these same colours for all her accessories, including her £660 hat from Juliette Botterill, her £395 bag from Strathberry, and her £249 shoes from LK Bennett.
Mike wore a very pale blue icy tie that matched Zara’s paler shoes, clutch bag and the light blue feathers on the top of her fascinator.
