A WOMAN has sparked a debate after claiming you should always close your toilet lid before showering.
Kristina Nguyen uploaded a clip and claimed that her acne was all down to leaving the bowl exposed.
On her @mcloving.friedrice account, she said: “POV you forget to close the toilet lid when showering.”
Many people were baffled by her claim, and she gave more information in the video caption.
She claimed: “When you shower with the toilet lid open, the humidity and water droplets from the shower causes the germs to float around, landing on spaces inc your toothbrush, skin (can cause acne), hair, walls and more.
“Research says you can reduce airborne particles by 50% from flushing the toilet with the lid closed.

While there is little research for open toilets having a serious effect on acne, it may be beneficial to shut the lid when you flush.
According to House Digest: “When toilets are flushed with the lid open, an aerosol effect is created, sending bacteria up into the air and spraying several feet around the toilet.
“While a closed lid won't prevent all germs from escaping, it can drastically limit the spray distance.”
Last year a video circulated which highlighted the importance of this advice.
Scientists said there is an invisible 'plume' which can spread – that carries potentially deadly germs in the air.
They said that this can be a health hazard for whoever uses the loo after the person had a number two.
The US research team used bright green lasers and cameras to reveal for the first time how they are rapidly ejected from a lidless public cubicle.
Lead author Professor John Crimaldi said: "If it's something you can't see, it's easy to pretend it doesn't exist.
"But once you see these videos, you're never going to think about a toilet flush the same way again.
