A mother with 13 kids has revealed that she was pregnant at the same time as her daughter – and is now a grandma at age 36.

Veronica Merritt, from New York, has become well known on social media for sharing an inside look at her life as a mother-of-13 – which involves spending three hours on preparing dinner, driving around in a school bus, and color-coding their clothes.

Now, she has expanded her family once again, but this time, it was her daughter who gave birth – just two months after she did.

Her oldest child, Victoria, 22, welcomed her first baby, a little girl named Maddie, six weeks ago, and she said it was ‘pretty cool’ to be pregnant at the same time as her mom, who gave birth to a baby boy eight weeks earlier.

‘It was pretty cool and our kids can be besties,’ she told Truly recently, with Veronica adding, ‘I think it’s fabulous, I think it’s so cute that they’re gonna grow up together.

‘Being pregnant at the same time as my daughter isn’t something that I ever thought was gonna happen but I think it’s pretty cool.’

Veronica previously explained to The Sun that she became pregnant for the first time when she was just 14 years old.

Victoria was born in 1999, and five years later, she and her first husband welcomed their son Andrew, 17.

After they divorced, she married her second husband Marty, 38, and they went on to have eight more children together.

They’re now parents to Adam, 16, Mara, 14, Dash, 13, Darla, 11, Marvelous, nine, Martalya, seven, Amelia, five, Delilah, four, Donovan, two, and Modie, three months. She also recently adopted a son, named Michel, 16.

According to Veronica, she can’t take birth control because she suffers from kidney disease and it makes her too sick.

‘I have kidney disease and lost my kidney last year,’ she told the outlet back in August.

‘Some of the children were planned, but I can’t take hormonal birth control because my illness means I am prone to blood clots.’

While speaking to Truly, Veronica admitted that the family is often met with stares from strangers when they’re out in public – who will say things like, ‘Wow you have your hands full,’ or, ‘Are they all yours?’

She has also received some backlash from people on the internet, who have slammed her for having so many children.

‘I get a lot of mixed reactions on my TikTok and Instagram. A lot of them are super supportive, but there’s a lot of negativity as well,’ she admitted.

‘There’s a lot of hate for pretty much no reason. We’re really nice people and if people took the time to get to know us, they would know that.’

‘I think you shouldn’t bully people just because they live a little differently than you.’

Back in December, Veronica came under fire after she admitted she made ‘no effort’ in making her kids’ meals because she was too ‘tired and cranky’ in a TikTok video

Back in December, Veronica came under fire after she admitted she made ‘no effort’ in making her kids’ meals because she was too ‘tired and cranky’ in a TikTok video – giving them things like mac and cheese, ramen noodles, and cereal.

‘Today, I made no effort to cook anything fancy for my 11 kids,’ she wrote in a now-viral video, while showing some of her kids eating Fruit Loop cereal.

‘I know it was all sugar, salt, and junk but I’m tired, pregnant, and cranky. Go ahead and hate on me, I don’t care, I’m human, I have off days. At least the kids ate!’

Throughout the clip, viewers also saw some of them eating ramen noodles, and others eating macaroni and cheese.

People quickly flooded the comment section with their thoughts, with one telling her that she shouldn’t have had so many kids, another reminding her, ‘They are not toys,’ and a third calling it ‘irresponsible.’

The mom-of-13 has also claimed that people have accused her of using the children to get free food, as she receives assistance from the government.

Viewers slammed her in the comments, with one telling her that she shouldn’t have had so many kids, another reminding her, ‘They are not toys,’ and a third calling it ‘irresponsible’

‘One thing I hate is how people go on and on about how we get food assistance,’ she told Truly, while discussing some of the hateful comments she has gotten.

‘I can’t stress this enough – I didn’t have kids because I wanted food assistance. That’s an absolutely ridiculous thing that people have been accusing me of.

‘We don’t even get enough to cover a full month of food. It’s such a silly thought, why would I give myself more work and more year-round expenses to save money on groceries?’

The mom previously revealed she uses a color-coded system to keep track of the kids’ stuff, meaning each of them is assigned a color – and she buys all their clothes and toys in that color, that way they can always tell who it belongs to.

‘The color-coding system is incorporated into almost everything,’ she explained to The Sun.

‘Anything I can find in their color I’ll buy – their clothes, their toys, their sheets, towels, toothbrushes, cups, and plates. It’s almost obsessive.’

As for why she loves having such a big family, the influencer explained to Truly, ‘I’ve met a lot of people in my life, and not everyone is chill and cool and awesome and my kids are.

‘I think it’s really awesome and great that they’re going to have each other. I believe the most awesome thing in life is to have people to love who love you back.’

‘This is the end, this time I’m done… Probably,’ she joked.
