In case you missed it – and if you did, we’re not sure how –Netflixreleased its Beckham documentary earlier this month followingDavid Beckham’sillustrious football career, as well as his life off the pitch with wifeVictoria Beckham.
Although the documentary spawned countless conversations about the couple, it wasn’t just his football skills or relationship that had people talking – it was his fashion, too.
During the documentary, David gave viewers a glimpse at his ultra-organised wardrobe, which includes colour and style coordinated suits, shirts and socks, as well as revealing that he picks out each of his outfits at the start of the week, hanging them on a separate rail so he doesn’t have to think about what to wear each morning.
Although his carefully curated wardrobe might seem a little OTT for some, it definitely seemed to be working, as his style was impeccable throughout the mini series.
The ex-footballer was spotted wearing a series of luxurious looking knitwear throughout the four part series, causing sales of similar-looking jumpers to skyrocket by 200% according toJacamo.
The online retailer saw sales of its Ecru Cable Knit ¼ Zip, £35 here, and Ecru Cable Knitted Crew Neck, £30 here, rise by 60% and 200% respectively after David wore several similar looks throughout the documentary.
Although he’s not shy about a daring fashion moment or two, like his controversial choice to wear a sarong on holiday back in 1998 orhis and Victoria’s matching purple wedding outfits, over the years his style has become much more timeless and relaxed.
The ex-footballer now favours a more monochromatic style, and is often spotted wearing black and grey knitwear during the documentary too.
You can get similar styles at Jacamo with its Grey Cable Knit Crew Neck, £30 here, and Rachel Hawkins, Head of Marketing at Jacamo, said: “Beckham’s style has certainly not disappeared over the last twenty years, and fans have once again been inspired by the fashion icon's outfit choices seen throughout the new documentary, with sales of our Ecru Knits and Monochrome Jumpers rapidly rising since its launch.”
It’s not just neutral colours that the football legend favoured, though; he was also spotted wearing a moss green soft knit jumper, and you can nab a similar look with Massimo Dutti’s Flecked Crew Neck Knit Sweater in Marine Green, £59.95 here.
Forget bending it like Beckham – it looks like we’ll be wearing it like Beckham from now on.
