'King Of Inkland King Body Art', known as 'Britain's most tattooed man' has opened up about his nasty health battle from one of his body modifications.
The 43-year-old, from Birmingham, formerly known as Matthew Whelan, has had extensive artwork on pretty much every inch of skin on his body. He took to his Instagram page this week to talk about his medical issues.
Addressing his 7,266 followers, he wrote: "I alter my body, that is well established. However, not may of you may know that my TRANSDERMAL Implant (not micro dermal skin nip) surgical procedure is and has always been a 24/7 open wound and from time to time can bleed, get inflamed, scab or seep plasma.

"I don't believe it to be an infection infection however the body is trying to heal an unwarranted hole punctured in it and foreign object (titanium disc and body jewellery) so it could just be it's the body mod version period just that time of month. Jokes aside ladies I know some of you suffer really bad in those."
He added: "I will be okay and if I'm not I'll go down in history like Jack Daniels, some monarch from many centuries ago and some other people dying from an unusual circumstance. Anyways family plans for birthday meal tomorrow – don't forget to wish me Happy 5 minute night because I was born at 23:55 and feel robbed.
Transdermal implants, or dermal piercings, are a form of body modification used both in a medical and aesthetic contexts.
They consist of an object placed partially below and partially above the skin. The skin around it generally heals as if it were a piercing, however this seems not to have been the case for him.

It seems like the ink fanatic not alone though, as one of his followers told him they'd been suffering from the same thing. "My two do the same thing," they wrote. Another also agreed: "My dermals and normal piercings do the same from time to time, have a fabulous birthday mate."
As well as his tattoos and piercings, 'King Of Inkland King Body Art' – now his legal name – has dyed the whites of both of his eyes, or sclera, black, removed his nipples to make rooms for tattoos, carved 'teeth marks' into his ears and split his tongue in half.
He's thought to have spent around £25,000 on tattoos which cover roughly 90% of his skin. In 2016, the ink fanatic even broke his own record by having 36 different artists tattoo his body at the same time.
However, 'King Of Inkland King Body Art' revealed back in June this year that he was quitting tattoos in order to save money and pay off his mortgage.
