During a recent appearance on Today with Hoda & Jenna, Brooke explained the Grier started ‘sobbing’ and ‘ran out of the screening room’ after becoming so horrified over everything she endured.

‘Grier looked at it as all the things that I kept from her, she was outraged and she was very sad,’ Brooke said.

‘She said, “Nothing you say to me, Mom, is going to make it better.” She said, “I hate seeing bad things happen to you.”

‘She just sobbed and ran out of the screening room, and my husband was upset because I wasn’t protecting her.’

As for her older daughter, Rowan, 19, the 57-year-old said she instantly felt the importance of the documentary, explaining, ‘[Rowan] was able to say, “Women need to see this.”‘

Brooke started modeling when she was just 11 months old – when she appeared in an ad for the brand Ivory Soap.

She went on to become one of the most successful child models of all time, starring in a slew of campaigns for enormous companies like Gerber, Calvin Klein, and Vogue – and she also expanded her career by stepping into the world of acting.

But in the documentary, Brooke said she was sexualized from a young age and slammed her mother, Teri, for allowing her to be put in so many inappropriate situations throughout her childhood.

While chatting with The Sunday Times about it, the star said it was ‘hard for her’ to have the conversation about the movie with her daughters, and that she had to remind herself ‘not to justify her mother to them.’

‘I mean, I could say, “Oh, it was the time back then,” or, “Oh, it was art,” but I don’t know why she thought it was all right. I don’t know,’ she added.

‘I had to contend with so much at such an early age, and there was resilience, but also I put on blinders as a defense mechanism. But now I can look at that little girl and think, “She did it, she pulled through.”‘

The Blue Lagoon stars famously took a break from acting and modeling in the ’80s, to focus on her education instead.

However, she revealed in the documentary that after graduating from Princeton in 1987, she was raped by an unnamed man as she struggled to get back into the industry.

After getting dinner to discuss potential work, Brooke recalled the man saying, ‘Come back to the hotel and I’ll call a cab.’

‘I go up to the hotel room, and he disappears for awhile,’ she continued. ‘The door opens, the person comes out naked, and … I’m like, “S–t.” He’s right on me. Just like, was wrestling.’

Brooke added that she didn’t try to run away because she feared it would provoke him to hurt her more.

‘I was afraid I’d get choked out or something,’ she said in the film. ‘So I didn’t fight that much. I didn’t. I just absolutely froze.

‘I thought one “No” should’ve been enough, and I just thought, “Stay alive and get out,” and I just shut it out.

‘God knows I knew how to be disassociated from my body. I’d practiced that. I went down in the elevator, and I got my own cab. I just cried all the way to my friend’s apartment.’
