Camillas Coronation fears betrayed by her hands, expert says

Neither the King nor Queen Consort smiled during their respective crownings, but one appeared far more tense than the other, a body language expert pointed out.

Saturday’s Coronation ceremony was broadcast across the world with more than 20 million people tuning in to the event in the UK alone, which is fewer viewers than attended the Queen’s funeral last year.

Body language expert Mark Bowden, who examined the response of both royals as their respective crowns were bestowed upon them, spotted significant differences in the royal’s behaviors.

While The King remained composed throughout the ceremony, Camilla made several hand motions suggesting she was concerned about the crown’s steadiness on her head, according to Bowden.

The expert told nickiswift.com: “When Charles receives the crown, his head is already slightly bowed, displaying reverence for the weighty symbol he will bear.

“However, when the crown is on Charles’ head, he supports its weight fully, perhaps displaying his commitment to the duty ahead.”

Turning to Camilla’s coronation, the expert added: “It is fair to say Charles shows more control and composure than Camila around this event.

“The weight of any crown is both physical, mental, and iconic. Charles looks to be wearing all of these at this stage.”

Bowden also attention to Camilla’s wobbly adjustments and motions, which were most likely due to fear “about the crown’s steadiness”.

He added: “The crowning of King Charles III and the Queen Consort is a great example of nonverbal communication, demonstrating how a single object can hold symbolic meaning far beyond its physical form.”
