A cheeky Brummie took his chance to find a royal drinking pal this afternoon as he called out to the Prince of Wales from a crowd.
Daniel Walker, who turned up to Birmingham’s jewellery quarter to catch a glimpse of the Prince and Princess of Wales, got William’s attention as he shouted at the top of his lungs.
He cried: ‘William! William, can we go for a pint?’ to the amusement of the crowd, who laughed along.
The father-of-three, 40, also burst out laughing and pointed to Daniel in the crowd with a knowing look and saying ‘of course’, before continuing to walk along with his wife.
The cheeky heckle was not Daniel’s first royal encounter, as he asked William’s father King Charles the same question during his visit to the West Midlands city last year – although the King’s response was somewhat more enthusiastic than his son’s.
In a video posted on TikTok, Daniel calls out to the King: ‘Charles, do you want to go for a beer?’
Responding, the King says: ‘What?’ before Daniel repeats his question.
Quick as a flash, King Charles asks: ‘Where?’ before breaking out into a grin as the crowd erupts in laughter.
Today’s visit marked the Prince and Princess of Wales’s first royal engagement after the Easter holidays.
The royal couple were last seen out and about with their three children to attend the Easter Sunday service at St George’s Chapel in Windsor.
Can we go for a pint? A well-intentioned heckler who was looking for a drinking buddy asked the Prince of Wales if he fancied a beer during his trip to the Jewellery Quarter in Birmingham this afternoon
During the visit, the Prince of Wales appeared to be in a mischievous mood as he took an unsuspecting customer’s booking on the telephone as he and the Princess of Wales visited an Indian restaurant.
In an amusing clip, William can be seen chatting to a diner who called up to book a table for two at the Indian Streatery, and after an entertaining back and fourth, the pair eventually agree on 2.15pm for the booking.
While he and Kate were being served a range of Indian dishes at the restaurant on Bennetts Hill, William answered the unexpected phone call and took a booking for two.

After negotiating over the time of the booking and giving the customer directions, William said: ‘He knows where you are now, I probably sent him somewhere else in Birmingham so I apologise.’
At 2.15pm, the customer Vinay Aggarwal and his wife Ankita Gulati, visiting from London, arrived at the restaurant ahead of their train home at 3pm.
Mr Aggarwal, a software engineer, said he had ‘no idea’ that William took the call. He said: ‘It’s pretty amazing and a surprise. I didn’t know at that moment, but it’s a very nice surprise. Obviously (I will be telling everyone), it’s not something that happens often.
‘I didn’t recognise his voice at all, this is the first time I was listening to him on the phone, so I genuinely thought someone was taking the booking for me.’
