Chris Evans says leaving his legendary role as Captain America has been “a literal weight off” his shoulders.
“I’ve shed like 15 pounds. Every time people see me they’re like, ‘You ok? You lost a little bit of weight,’” the actor, 41, told Yahoo Entertainment while promoting his new movie “Lightyear.”
The MCU actor added that he “hasn’t had to hit the gym as hard” since his last performance as the iconic character in 2019’s “Avengers: Endgame.” The role has since been passed on to Anthony Mackie.
Leaving the role has not only changed Evans physically but has given him “open waters,” he explained.
“It’s different. For 10 years you always have a movie around the corner. For 10 years it’s always, you know, you finish one and then your life is scheduled by, ‘OK, in six months we have press, in six more months we have the next movie,’” he continued.
Although Evans enjoys having a lighter schedule post-Marvel, he said his time in the MCU coming to an end was bittersweet.
“There’s parts of it that are nice and parts of it that I really, really miss because it was a role that meant a lot to me,” he said.
Next up, Evans will voice the iconic character of Buzz Lightyear in “Lightyear,” which is set to hit theaters on June 17.
Keke Palmer, Taika Waititi, James Brolin, Uzo Aduba, Bill Hader and more stars also lend their voices to the highly anticipated Disney film.
