A couple have been left horrified after discovering that a strange noise in their car was actually an enormous snake.
Saira Ahmed, from Oldland Common, Gloucestershire, initially assumed there was a fault with her car when she heard a hissing coming from the engine earlier this month.
Unsure what was happening, Saira called her partner Justin Schmitz for help.
However, the couple were stunned to see a 2.5ft corn snake pop its head out of the grille and then disappear back inside the car.
She explained: ‘When I started my car, I had been hearing this really weird noise like a screw had fallen out or something.

‘I said to Justin we need to get my car looked at. Then there was a head sticking out of the grille, then it went back in.’
Conscious that the snake was going to make her late for work, Saira sent a video of the serpent’s head and fangs poking out of the front grille to her boss – as she worried they otherwise wouldn’t believe her.
After this, Sara’s friend – who wasn’t scared of snakes – arrived at the property and drove the car to a local reptile shop.
But when they arrived, the corn snake had seemed to have disappeared.
It was only when the par returned back at Saira’s house that the snake magically re-appeared under the bonnet.
Unsure what to do next, Saira called the animal rescue agency RSPCA – who advised her to call a mechanic.
Complicating matters further, the only mechanic Saira could find was scared of snakes and refused to do the job.
Desperate to get rid of the serpent, Saira turned to social media as an absolute last resort – which is how she found snake-lover Sian Fish.

She continued: ‘I went on Facebook and found a lady who loves snakes. She came round with a dead mouse in a frozen packet, which she put on the grille.
‘The snake moved out and onto the bonnet of the car where it was rescued.
‘I thought no-one at work is going to believe me if I say there’s a snake in my car so I sent a video of it’.
Reptile rescuer, Sian Fish, had grown accustomed to the limbless creatures as her son keeps them as pets.
‘We handle snakes daily and it’s about confidence,’ Sian said. ‘This snake was about 2.5ft.’
She continued: ‘Corn snakes are non-venomous and only generally bite if they are scared. When it stuck its head out, it was probably looking for water as it’s been quite hot.
‘When it ducked back in, we opened the bonnet of the car and I coaxed it out, grabbing the tail.
‘Since the high energy costs, a lot of snakes are being released. It probably was in the engine for warmth at night.
What’s more, Sian’s son is now caring for the snake and the family are planning on keeping it if the owner doesn’t come forward.
