Here’s a man who has his priorities right.
Don Lemon isn’t about to let his high-profile and somewhat unceremonious firing ruin his summer plans.
The anchor was canned this week after 17 years at CNN following a spring of scandals. But rosé season must go on!
“I’m going to enjoy my summer, spend it on the beach and have a great time,” he told Page Six at the Time 100 Gala Wednesday night. “That’s it.”
Lemon, 57, claims to have been blindsided by his ouster.
“I was informed this morning by my agent that I have been terminated by CNN,” he wrote on social media on Monday, “I am stunned. After 17 years at CNN, I would have thought that someone in management would have the decency to tell me directly. At no time was I ever given any indication that I would not be able to continue to do the work I have loved at the network. It is clear that there are some larger issues at play.”
(CNN denied his claims, tweeting: “He was offered an opportunity to meet with management but instead released a statement on Twitter.”)
When asked at the the gala how he’s feeling after the abrupt exit, he said of the assembled reporters: “You guys are more worried about me than I am.”
Lemon walked hand-in-hand on the red carpet with his husband of seven years, Tim Malone, 39.
Back in February, the Post reported that Lemon “screamed” at “CNN This Morning” co-anchor Kaitlan Collins, and later the same month Lemon caused a national uproar after he suggested 51-year-old presidential hopeful Nick Haley is “past her prime.”
