Love Island’s Ekin-Su Culculoglu has been one busy girl since winning the villa crown back in July. However she has, it seems, found time in between signing brand deals and making appearances to sneak in a trip to the hair salon.
While Ekin didn’t document the transformation for us to see, she has just appeared on her TikTok page with a visibly different look. Gone is her summer honey blonde balayage and in its place is a new deep chocolate brown shade that works perfectly with the colder season.
Of course, Love Island fans weren’t going to let this change of look slide without addressing it. As soon as Ekin uploaded the video – where she plugs her new Ekin-Su x Oh Polly collection – followers responded in the masses with comments about her hair.
“Not Ekin being a full brunette now!!” one said, prompting nearly 7,000 people to like the comment.
“Yassss dark hair Ekin is here,” said another, while a third wrote: “Brunette is definitely the right choice.”
Possibly the most noticeable change in Ekin’s hair is the missing moneypiece sections which she previously had lightened to a clean blonde shade. It even looks like the star has glossed over her balayage ends as her current brunette colour looks much more single-toned than before.
Whatever Ekin did, we’re loving it. She’s also bang on trend as brunette shades are making a comeback for A/W22. Hair experts might even call this particular shade of brunette that Ekin is wearing a “glazed olive brunette”. Other celebs who have recently chosen to swap bakayages for this colour include Jessica Alba and Hailey Bieber.
Essentially, a glazed olive hue is characterised by dark olive and violet undertones, added to remove warmth and add depth and a pop of unexpected colour to brown bases. Since Ekin’s colour is quite cool in tone, we’d imagine she might have had subtle accents of dark olive added to tone down her previously warm summer shade.
In other Ekin-Su news from the week, the Turkish actress has just been announced as the third confirmed contestant taking part in Dancing on Ice. We wonder if we’re about to see any more transformations from Ekin as we approach the show’s start date!
