Not so Finger Lickin’ Good! Family left horrified as ‘live MAGGOTS crawl out of their KFC Variety Bucket’

  • Jay Jones, 24, from Northampton says she will ‘never eat KFC again’
  • Got a takeaway with partner Ben Adamson, 27, and his mum as a ‘treat’
  • Family claim five live maggots ‘crawled out of their Wicked Variety bucket’
  • KFC said their food is freshly prepared and staff checked the restaurant over

A family have vowed to ‘never eat KFC again’ after they claim to have found live maggots wriggling in their bucket of chicken.

Support worker Jay Jones and partner Ben Adamson, 27, stopped at the Nene Park Sixfields branch in Northampton on their way home as a treat after a long day.

The pair picked up a £15.29 six-piece Wicked Variety Bucket to share with Jay’s mum Catherine Thompson, 54, before tucking into it in bed.

After Ben had already scoffed four boneless fillets, Jay claims Catherine burst into the room to warn them to stop eating, saying she’d found five live maggots on a hot wing.

Jays said she believes the wing could have been left somewhere ‘for some time’ in error after being cooked, before ending up in their box.

However she said the experience has put them off ever having another KFC – and she doubts she will even have a takeaway again.

Enough to make your skin crawl – the Wicked Bucket had a piece of chicken crawling with ‘huge’ maggots one East Midlands family claims

KFC said their food is freshly prepared and ‘served soon after’ being cooked, and added staff had done a thorough check to ensure the restaurant was in ‘tip top condition’.

Jay said said: ‘We went to the drive-thru on Sunday night at 10.08pm.

‘It had been a long day. We had just come back from my partner’s mum’s house so nipped in on the way back.

‘It was a treat and we normally travel to that KFC because it’s normally nice food.

Jay Jones, 24 from Northampton, East Midlands has vowed ‘never to eat KFC again’ after wriggly surprise found in takeaway

‘We ordered the Wicked Variety Bucket with six pieces to share.

‘Me and my partner were eating and mum was eating it in the other room.

‘She ate one piece and came through to the bedroom where me and Ben were eating.

‘She came in and told us to stop eating it because she’d found maggots in her food.

‘We were gagging on our food. We were in shock. There were five live maggots wriggling.

‘She’d eaten a whole piece of chicken, started the other then found the maggots.

‘My partner had the fillets because he doesn’t like chicken on the bone and he’d eaten all four, but I’d just had one piece of chicken.

Jay claimed the maggots (circled)  ‘must have been there for some time because they were huge’

‘It makes me feel physically sick. I genuinely don’t think I’ll eat another takeaway again.’

Jay quickly filmed the maggots and although they couldn’t find any more, they binned the rest of the meal.

The video shows hot wing pulled to pieces, surrounded by the maggots which are wriggling around on the plate.

Jay said: ‘We looked through all the chicken pieces and we couldn’t find anymore. They were just in the one hot wing.

‘I have no idea where they came from. They were only in one piece of chicken, which is very strange.

‘Me and mum had eaten a piece each with no maggots on but she pulled the second one apart and there they were.

‘I’m definitely not saying that the maggots survived getting deep fried. I don’t know if the chicken was left over and it had been stored and put to the back.

‘I don’t know how their process works. With the size of the maggots, they must have been there for some time because they were huge.

‘I don’t know if the piece of chicken had been left over and just ended up in our bucket. I’ll never go back again.’

‘We could see something crawling on the plate’ the Northamptonshire family won’t be re-ordering at the popular take-away again

Mum Catherine said: ‘My daughter and her partner had brought the KFC back after they had been out.

‘My daughter placed two pieces of chicken on my plate along with some chips.. I ate them and went back into the kitchen to get another piece of chicken out of the box.

‘I sat down to eat it and as I pulled a piece of chicken off to put it into my mouth and started to chew it I thought I could see something moving in the chicken left on my plate.

‘When I had a look that’s when I saw the maggots. I spat out the chicken I had in my mouth and I felt physically sick.

‘I will never eat KFC again for as long as I live.’

KFC said their food is cooked at 365 degrees so it would be ‘quite something to survive that’ – though Jay pointed out she did not believe the maggots had been present prior to cooking and she believes the piece could have been left lay around afterwards.

The fast food chain said that they had not had any other similar complaints and they always encourage guests to contact their Care Squad with any concerns so they can investigate.

Extra protien – The Nene park branch insists there were no issues in their kitchen when the incident occured last week

However Jay claims that by the time the maggots had been found, the branch had closed so she got in touch with head office who asked her to supply more details and says she’s yet to hear back.

A KFC spokesperson said: ‘We must admit we were surprised by this footage. Our chicken is freshly prepared, cooked at 365 degrees and served soon after so it’d be quite something to survive that.

‘We’ve not had any similar complaints but the restaurant team have done a thorough check just to be sure and everything is in tip top condition.

‘We’d always encourage guests to contact our Care Squad if they have any concerns so we can look into it with the restaurant.’
