Former TOWIE star Frankie Essex gave birth to her twins, whom she shares with boyfriend Luke Love, last May. She has since shared updates while settling into life with babies Logan and Luella.
In her exclusive column for OK! , Frankie has discussed a range of topics related to motherhood – from her first social outing with the twins and a blackout at her home when they were just a few days old, to “feeling more human again” as the babies dropped their dreaded 2am feed.
This week, Frankie tells us how the twins have become a "handful" now that they're both walking, how she's had to spend extra money on renting a second travel cot for an upcoming holiday, and how she's instilling confidence in her children through dance.
The twins are such a handful now
Luella is really walking now so we went to the park and just let them run wild. I've definitely had to be a lot more hands-on now that they're both walking, although it has been easier to tire them out now. Luella's always been a tired baby, but even more so now.
We've been inside a lot this week
We've had builders in sorting out our ensuite, and I wanted to stay in to make sure everything gets put in the right place. The twins have been enjoying their time at home though and are constantly chasing each other around the house.
I'm so excited about the new bathroom, we hired someone to plan it all out and everything. We were going to just find cheap options and get the basics but Luke argued that it's our en suite so we should go all out, so that's what we've done and I'm loving it so far.
The bath was delivered a couple of days ago and it's so huge, I'm looking forward to being able to use it.
I've had to fork out £40 to rent a travel cot
We're going on holiday at the end of the month, for my friend's wedding in Portugal, but the hotel would only provide one travel cot and wanted £80 for an extra one, so I had a look and found somewhere I can rent from for £30, which is so much cheaper than the hotel's option.
I'm also renting a couple of prams from the same company, as I won't be able to get my prams onto the plane. At the moment we have two prams, one which has the twins one behind the other and a second that has them next to each other, but they'll just be so heavy to take on the plane, or in our suitcases.
And the ones we're renting can be easily folded up and put in the plane's overhead compartment.
I want both of the twins to feel confident so I've been getting them to dance
I've been teaching Logan Luella how to dance, which they've been really enjoying – Luella does this a twisty dance and Logan does more of a bouncy one. I think it will help them gain confidence, Luke is always saying to me that I must get my confidence from my mum and day playing music and just letting me dance around the house as I child.
Recently, Luella's been loving dancing to one of the songs from Matilda and we're always playing it now wherever we go, it's become our family song. When we play in the car both she and Logan start clapping and shaking their heads, which is just so cute.
I'm a bit of a free soul and I want the babies to be like that too, and be confident and feel free to do what they want.
