MANCHESTER City took control of the title race by demolishing Arsenal in midweek. Can Fulham do anything to stop their seemingly unstoppable march towards the Treble?

Fulham vs Manchester City betting preview

It looks like little can stop Manchester City right now.

They brushed aside their closest rivals, Arsenal, in ruthless fashion in midweek to take full control of the title race – win six of their last seven and they will complete a hat-trick of championships.

The first of those matches sees them head to Fulham, a side whose European bid looks to be running out of steam – they sit 10th ahead of the weekend’s action.

The Londoners remain without Aleksandar Mitrovic, suspended over his ref-pushing at Old Trafford last month, while the in-form Willian missed the midweek defeat at Aston Villa after getting injured in the warm-up. Harry Wilson then came off feeling ill so Marco Silva’s resources are being stretched rather.

City star Kevin de Bruyne reported an injury niggle during the Arsenal game so may be absent at Craven Cottage, although it’s fair to say Pep Guardiola’s squad has somewhat greater depth.

One statistic which will offer Fulham (and Arsenal) some hope is that City have struggled, relatively, away to the better sides.

They’ve played six away games against current members of the top half and won only one. Pep Guardiola’s men have actually only taken two points from trips to Newcastle, Manchester United, Tottenham, Aston Villa and Liverpool.

Fulham probably aren’t in that bracket though, certainly not across the last 13 games which have brought just four wins.

While City look worthy favourites, finding some betting value with them is always tricky in matches such as this.

Still, we’ve done our best to find some with the half-time/full-time market looking to have potential to reap rewards – more on that below.

Fulham vs Manchester City key stats

  • Manchester City have won 12 of their last 13 games in all competitions.
  • City have won their last 13 matches against Fulham, scoring at least twice in every one.
  • Erling Haaland not only leads the Premier League goalscoring charts but he’s also hit more shots on target than any other player, landing the 2+ SOT bet in seven of his last eight starts in all competitions.
  • Fulham’s top scorer Aleksandar Mitrovic remains suspended, while Willian is a doubt having missed the midweek defeat to Aston Villa due to injury.
  • Kevin de Bruyne came off in midweek with a “niggle” and so with bigger games ahead, he could miss this one. Nathan Ake is definitely out.

Fulham vs Manchester City best bets

Man City/Man City HT/FT

Backing Manchester City to win the game having also led at half time looks a good way of getting some value out of this game’s hot favourites.

Pep Guardiola’s men are flying having won 12 of their last 13 matches in all competitions and notably 10 of those 12 wins have also landed this bet.

While City are around 1/3 to win the match, their odds for the HT/FT option are a much tastier 4/5.

Riyad Mahrez anytime assist

More potential City value lies in Mahrez in the assist market.

Since the mid-season World Cup break, the Algerian has delivered for backers on this bet in five of his 11 Premier League starts.

Here, he’ll likely to providing for a player trying to score his 50th goal of the season, Erling Haaland. Having such a massive goal threat in the team certainly helps the assisters!

While we can’t be sure Mahrez will start, many bookmakers offer a cashout option which can be used before kick-off if he’s on the bench.

Kenny Tete to be carded

Tete has been carded in seven of his 24 Premier League starts this season and looks in for a tough time here with his likely direct opponent being Jack Grealish – only Wilfried Zaha has a higher ‘fouls drawn per game’ figure.

Admittedly, Simon Hooper isn’t the best referee for a card bet but given that only Wolves have been shown more cards than Fulham in this season’s Premier League, you’d expect the official to get his book out on a few occasions.

All things considered, 4/1 about Tete being shown a card in this game looks too big.
