During their modelling careers, both Gigi Hadid and Bella Hadid have proven that they can pull off a real variety of beauty looks as well as fashion ensembles – whether that’s changing up their signature hair colours, sporting a “Lego haircut” or bleaching their brows.
But their latest high fashion look, worn for a Marc Jacobs show in New York this week, is a really extreme case that only adds weight to that argument. Both sisters stepped out onto the catwalk with a half-shaven hairstyle and no eyebrows, shocking their fans with the very striking get-up that’s giving us punk era vibes.
The pair shared a string of snaps to their respective Instagram feeds, with Gigi writing, “ANYTHING 4 MARC” with a razor emoji in a nod to the eye-catching hairdo.
Meanwhile Bella gave fans a look behind-the-scenes at the creative process for this look, which saw the hair and makeup team and prosthetic artists create the ethereal beauty look from scratch, with the help of bald caps and specially cut wigs (so no, the sisters didn’t shave their heads for real, just in case you were in any doubt).
Fans were in awe of further proof that both sisters look good in just about anything, flocking to the comments section to share their enthusiasm for the edgy look.
“The dress… the hair… everything! Ugh!” one commented alongside a string of heart eye emojis, as another chimed in with, “My most favourite look maybe ever.”
Meanwhile a third fan agreed, “It’s so cool seeing you rock these edgy looks!” as a fourth joked, “I just know Bella would be so hot if she started dressing like a 1970s punk”.
Bella in particular is no stranger to a dramatic haircut, unveiling an elfin micro pixie at the end of April that was also in the name of fashion.
Taking to Instagram with an ad post for Michael Kors, the 25 year old looked like a completely different person at first glance with the short and sharp haircut. It was bold, it was edgy, and she looked like some kind of elfin princess.
Although we are 99.99% sure that this was a wig, we thought the look suited her down to a tee – as did her legions of fans.
"Every kind of fringe looks stunning on you," one fan commented on the hairstyle, as another agreed, “Such a goddess. I can’t.”
