GP reveals the horrifying mistake men make in the shower – and the nasty infections that can follow | The Sun

MANY men might be guilty of only giving their genitals a cursory clean in the shower.

While that might not seem like too big a deal, an NHS doctor has gone viral on TikTok warning men why it is so important to properly wash their penis properly.

The GP, who goes by Doctor Sooj on social media, issued a stern warning to men slacking on their wash routine, calling it a “public service announcement”.

His warning concerned those who are uncircumcised in particular.

Doctor Sooj, 31, from Hertfordshire, says in the clip: “If you’re not circumcised, then please make sure that every single time you shower or bathe, you pull your foreskin all the way back and clean around the base of the glans penis.

“This is the base of the helmet."

The GP had a pretty gross message for those ready to scroll past and brush off his warning.

“If you don’t do this then it can lead to a build-up of smegma, which is a thick cheese-looking discharge that builds up around the genitals.

“This can then lead to things like bacterial and fungal skin infections."

Not ideal, right?

But cleaning your penis properly really doesn't require all that much effort, according to Doctor Sooj.

“To prevent this, all you have to do is gently pull your foreskin back when you’re in the shower or you’re bathing, and clean your genitals with warm water.”

The GP said his latest post is “based on numerous cases” he has seen over the last few months.

The TikTok garnered over 20,000 views, with one person commenting: “As a female I know this! How do some men not?!?”

Someone else said: “How in 2023 are you having to say this?”

“The sad fact is that this will come as a shock for far too many fully grown men,” added another viewer.

Another person commented: “Bleugh! Can you imagine in this hot hot weather too!”

One person added: “Why are we having to educate so many people on intimate hygiene? It really surprises me especially in a modern society.”

Another person dubbed it “common sense”.

“Men shouldn’t need to be told this basic… just lazy slobs they don’t,” said one user.

“Cannot believe we are having to tell men to clean their d***s!” someone else commented.

The doctor is committed to sharing medical knowledge with his followers.

“My ultimate aim has been to try and alleviate some of the burden on the NHS, whilst also enjoying the process,” Doctor Sooj previously told NeedToKnow.co.uk.
