Selena Gomez takes social media break amid Hailey Bieber drama
Hailey Bieber is trending on Twitter yet again after Selena Gomez’s fans resurfaced the model’s decade-old posts supporting the actress’s relationship with Justin Bieber.
Several social media users dug up screenshots of Hailey’s tweets from 2011, shortly after her now-husband, Justin, and his ex-girlfriend confirmed their romance for the first time.
“I’m for sure 100% team #Jelena,” Hailey (née Hailey Baldwin) tweeted on May 27, 2011.
“I don’t care what anyone says but Justin Bieber and Selena Gomez together is the definition of a teenage dream! #word,” she wrote on Sept. 23, 2011 — the same night Justin famously rented out the Staples Center in Los Angeles for a romantic date with Gomez.
“Selena Gomez is so cute. Don’t argue. Bye,” Hailey, now 26, tweeted on Oct. 7, 2011.
“She is beyond flawless and he’s ya know he’s Bieber. They are a perfect relationship.. -__-forever alone,” read a particularly cringey post from Jan. 8, 2012.
The Rhode Skin founder continued standing Gomez, 30, for years, even calling the pop star “HOT” when her “Come & Get It” music video was released in May 2013.
Additionally, a photo of Hailey posing on a red carpet while holding up a teen magazine with Justin and Gomez on the cover has bubbled up again online.
Gomez’s fans — aka Selenators — have even gone so far as to point out other similarities between the two women in viral TikTok videos, such as tattoos, outfits and work projects.
Hailey has not responded to the latest mayhem on social media. She limited her Instagram comments last Friday but has since turned them back on.
Gomez, for her part, announced last Thursday that she was taking a social media break after causing a frenzy by leaving several cryptic TikTok comments on videos about Hailey.
“This is a little silly, and I’m 30,” the “Only Murders in the Building” star said on TikTok Live at the time. “I’m too old for this.”
Gomez’s break seems to be primarily from TikTok, however, as she has continued posting content to Instagram, where she recently became the platform’s most-followed woman.
Prior to the “Wolves” songstress’ TikTok hiatus, Kylie Jenner shut down speculation that she and her close friend Hailey had dissed Gomez’s eyebrows.
“This is reaching. no shade towards selena ever and i didn’t see her eyebrows post. u guys are making something out of nothing,” the “Kardashians” star, 25, commented under a video of the fan theory, to which Gomez replied, “Agreed @kyliejenner It’s all unnecessary. I’m a fan of Kylie!”
But Gomez fueled feud rumors with Hailey when she defended her BFF Taylor Swift in response to a resurfaced video of her ex’s wife gagging on TV at the mention of the “All Too Well” singer’s name.
“So sorry, my best friend is and continues to be one of the best in the game,” the “Wizards of Waverly Place” alum clapped back.
Justin, 28, and Gomez dated on and off for eight years before calling it quits for good in March 2018. Just four months later, the “Baby” singer got engaged to Hailey, whom he wed that September.
