The internet has long been divided about whether or not ketchup belongs in the fridge.
Even celebrities like Cardi B have waded in on the debate in the past.
However new research by Heinz revealed once and for all whether it should be refrigerated or not – and over half of Brits have been doing it wrong.

A study of 2,000 Brits found a whopping four in ten (41%) have been wrongly keeping their Heinz Tomato Ketchup in the cupboard.
The research revealed that Sheffield residents are the worst offenders, with almost two thirds (62%) storing their ketchup in the cupboard.
This week Heinz settled the debate on Twitter, and let’s just say, everyone has something to say on the matter.
The company wrote to its 19,500 followers: "FYI: Ketchup. goes. in. the. fridge!!!"
The post has since gone viral, racking up more than 3.9million views, and it seem many didn't agree.
Someone simply replied: "Na," as the brand hit back: "Aye."
"I've never kept ketchup in the fridge – it's the cupboard or on the countertop," added another person.
A third claimed: "If it was meant to be in the fridge, they'd put it there at supermarket."
While one person joked: "I just carry it around in my pocket. You never know when you might come across a snack that requires some ketchup."

Despite this, others agreed it goes in the fridge: "Of course it does after opening, is this controversial?"
While another added: "Yes Heinz. Can you tell my boyfriend to do so – he keeps it the countertop and it tastes [awful]."
A third chimed in: "People keep it out of the fridge? *gasp*."
Concluding the debate, Olivia Lennon, from Heinz Tomato Ketchup said: "There was only ever one correct answer, and we’re happy to share with Heinz Tomato Ketchup lovers across the UK that our ketchup has to be in the fridge."
