When it comes to summer footwear, nothing is quite as timeless as the ballet flat.
The understated pair of pumps have become one of the most iconic looks of all time, thanks in no small part to Chanel’s signature £800 pair that have been spotted on any number of celebrities, and are identifiable by their delicate bow on the front and toe cap details.
The flats have become synonymous with the quiet luxury trend, that’s all about embracing timeless, classic pieces and steering away from flashy or in-your-face fashion.
Thanks to celebs likeHailey BieberandKendall Jenner, who are known for their chic, minimalist fashion, the rise of the quiet luxury aesthetic has definitely taken hold of the fashion industry recently and spawned plenty of dupes for the designer items that have become hallmarks of the trend.
So, if you’re in the market for some of Chanel’s gorgeous ballet flats but can’t quite bring yourself to splash out £800, allow us to introduce you to the latest affordable alternative from the high street.
H&M’s Ballet Pumps, £18.99 here, are the perfect dupe of Chanel’s tweed pair, with a black boucle fabric and patent faux-leather toe cap giving an almost identical look to the designer version.
H&M’s pair even has a dainty bow on the front, just like the French fashion house’s signature style. Although Chanel’s are made from lambskin leather, H&M has used faux leather and polyester to create their dupe, which is what helps keep the price on the affordable side.
The boucle ballet flats come in sizes 2-9, however due to their popularity they’re currently sold out in all sizes except 7, 8 and 9.
As well as the all-black boucle version, H&M has also released a contrasting black and white pair, with black faux-croc uppers and a white toe cap. You can nab the Block Colour Ballet Flats, £9 here (was £18.99), in the sale, although currently only size 7s are in stock.
The pumps have also previously been sold in other colourways too, including beige and white, with those colours already selling out thanks to their similarity to Chanel’s luxury footwear.
“Beautiful I need a second pair in this colour and I got them in both colours. Really good quality for the price too!” said one shopper who’d managed to get them in the beige hue, whilst another added: “Glad I snapped these up as they went out of stock very quickly. The exact colours i wanted cream and black. Pretty and feel quite comfortable. Only reason not 5 stars is cos the inner sole was coming away immediately. Hopefully won't be too much of an issue as can add a new one. Perfect spring shoe. I sized up.”
A third wrote: “Great quality, look more expensive than what they were. Would say they are true to size.”
