- The man shared controversial move on the So AITA [Am I The A**hole] subreddit
- He said he found urinating in the shower ‘satisfying,’ but his friend wasn’t happy
- Most argued the move was ‘gross,’ others said ‘showers are meant to get dirty’
A house guest has voiced his anguish after confessing that he urinated in a friend’s new home – prompting her to cut off all contact with him.
The visitor, who described themselves as ‘a guy without a penis,’ shared his reasoning behind the controversial move to the Am I The A**hole subreddit and sparked fierce debate among users.
He explained that, because of his anatomical condition, of which is did not reveal the cause, he rarely finds himself in a situation where he is able to urinate while standing up.
‘I am unable to enjoy the wonders of p***ing standing up most of the time,’ he explained.
The man, 22, shared he was ‘scared’ to use stand-to-pee devices and usually sat on the toilet, but he found peeing in the shower ‘really satisfying.’
The house guest asked Reddit users ‘So AITA [Am I The A**hole] for peeing in the shower’

His family relieved themselves in the shower as well and he ‘assumed it was normal.’
The man’s friend, who he named as ‘Natalie,’ was hanging out with her guest and their friends a week after he slept over and the topic of peeing in the shower came up.
The group’s opinions were split down the middle and there was an elongated ‘awkward silence.’
After the conversation Natalie, 23, asked the visitor, who described himself as an ‘FtM’ – a term Merriam-Webster cites as meaning ‘a transgender man,’ if he peed in her shower and he replied ‘yes.’ He has since apologized over text to her, however she has not responded.
‘So AITA [Am I The A**hole] for peeing in the shower?’ the guest desperately asked Reddit users to see if he was in the wrong.
The contentious debate of whether peeing in the shower is appropriate or not got more than 2,900 likes and 2,700 comments.
One commentator called it ‘disrespectful,’ saying: ‘What you do in your home is not what you necessarily do in another person’s home.’
Another added: ‘Even though the other person has no way of knowing it’s not exactly polite to p*** in other people’s showers.’
A third user referenced Fight Club writing: ‘First rule of shower p*** club… don’t talk about shower p*** club.’
Although a lot of commentators took Natalie’s side, some were in support of it.

One person wrote: ‘Not The A**hole. Showers are meant to get dirty because you’re washing the dirt off of you into them. Your friend can always sanitize the shower after guests leave if she feels strongly about it.’
The commentator brought other bodily fluids into the conversation adding: ‘For people who think peeing in the shower is gross I wonder where they think period blood goes when menstruating people shower. And when people wash their butts all those germs are going in the shower too.’
Dr. Alicia Jeffrey-Thomas, who is a Boston-based pelvic floor therapist, argues that peeing while the water is running causes an ‘association’ in your brain to pee every time you hear it.
If you don’t have a ‘strong pelvic floor’ you can develop leak issues with your bladder when you hear the sound outside of your shower.
Also standing while peeing isn’t relaxing for your pelvic floor therefore you won’t be ’emptying the bladder super well.’
Alicia recommends using the toilet prior to showering and training your bladder to use the restroom at least twice, and ideally three to four times daily.
