A woman who lives in the Tower of London with her father – who is a Beefeater – has revealed she’s often mistaken for a princess and has to ‘sprint’ for takeaway deliveries as the drivers get confused when navigating the tourist site.

Megan Clawson, 23, spent the coronavirus lockdown in 2020 with her father Chris, 54, who in 2018 won a place as one of the 32 Yeoman Wardens – and with the job is able to live in a two-bedroom house on the grounds.

She took to posting her fairytale-esque life on TikTok before exploding on social media – and has now penned a fictional romance set in the London attraction.

Her time living in the historical site – which has also been used as prison – has seen her be mistaken for a princess by confused tourists, and face logistical dilemmas when it comes to online deliveries.

Speaking to The Sun, she detailed the intricacies of living within a historic castle.

A woman who lives in the Tower of London with her father – who is a Beefeater – says she’s often mistaken for a princess and has to ‘sprint’ for takeaway deliveries

‘If I order a takeaway, I have to sprint from my house across the grounds and find the driver at whichever entrance they are at,’ she told the outlet.

What’s more – much like a fairytale royal – Megan has to let the guards know if she’s going to be out past midnight so they know to wait up for her and let her in.

The author, who also works as TV extra, says that she also had to get used to curious tourists with a straight view into her bedroom staring as she woke up.

Feeling homesick as a university student at King’s College, London, she asked her father if she could move into the Tower with him when the Covid lockdown struck the UK three years ago.

She had become used to bringing her laundry to the Tower, but missed a more consistent connection to her family – and Chris agreed.

As it was closed to the public at the time, Megan explained that she was able to write her dissertation there in peace, amid a small community and the ‘famous ravens’.

‘So it was a shock when tourists were finally able to visit the Tower and I realised they could see straight into my bedroom,’ she explained.

‘But once I’d bought some curtains, I began to enjoy hearing the daily chatter of people visiting from all over the world, marvelling at my home.’
