A woman has revealed precisely how the capital’s most expensive sandwich compares to its cheapest, with surprising results.

Grace Booth from London has shared the outcome of a comparison test between Harrods’ Wagyu steak sandwich, costing a ‘ludicrous’ £28, and a cheese sarnie from Maestro Bar, which is located a 20-minute walk from the famous department store, coming in at £2.

Sharing a video to her YouTube page, Grace documented the experience as she visited Harrods food hall in Knightsbridge to buy her luxury lunch.

In the voiceover commentary, she said: ‘The most expensive sandwich is from Harrods, this is £28 for a sandwich which is absolutely ludicrous and it is a Wagyu steak sandwich.’

Describing the sandwich, she added: ‘You do get a lot of Wagyu in there but the bottom was so soggy.

Grace Booth said Harrods’ Wagyu steak sandwich (pictured) was very ‘melt in the mouth’ but the soggy bottom meant she couldn’t justify spending £28 on it

Eager to compare the difference in what you can get a both ends of the price scale, Grace bought herself a plain cheese sandwich for £2

Ms Booth described the sandwich as ‘solid’ and revealed she’d be back to have another one over the expensive steak sarnie

‘The flavour was really good, they had this sort of dressing in it, which was lovely, and the steak was very melt in the mouth, but I was not impressed with the sogginess.

‘It was definitely not worth £28.’

Moving on to the cheapest sandwich, Grace chose Maestro Bar around the corner from Harrods in London’s Belgravia.

Starting off strong with a Google rating of 4.9 stars out of five, Grace revealed the place was packed with customers.

She said: ‘Now this is one of the cheapest sandwich options, there were a few around but this was the Maestro deli.

‘They had lots of different sandwich options, and they were so lovely in here, all of the local workers were coming in and they were all regulars.

‘I had a really good feeling about it because if they keep coming back then it must be good. They had loads of sandwiches to pick from but the sandwich I chose was a cheese sandwich because this was the cheapest one and it was £2.’

Showing off the sandwich, Grace picked up the slices of white bread revealing several slices of cheddar with butter and seasoning.

Giving her review, she said: ‘It was actually a really good sandwich, just a solid good cheese sandwich.

‘They didn’t stint on the cheese and the bread was nice and soft, I think I’d pick it again.’

Despite the enthusiastic assessments, viewers of the video weren’t convinced.

The Wagyu sandwich sounds delicious but many were shocked the expensive snack wasn’t made fresh and that the beef was allowed to cool

One viewer described Grace’s ‘solid’ cheese sandwich as sad, while many others were shocked that it cost £2

Viewers of Grace’s reviews weren’t completely impressed by the findings with many commenting they thought £2 was expensive for a cheese sandwich

One popular comment under the video earning 14,000 likes stated : ‘£2 is expensive for a basic cheese sandwich’.

‘They should have made that expensive sandwich fresh considering how pricey it was! That cheese sandwich looked good though,’ added another person.

Someone else penned: ‘That’s the saddest cheap sandwich I’ve ever seen, it needs a slice of tomato and maybe some lettuce’.

One person shocked at the cheapest option wrote: ‘no way £2 is cheap for a cheese sandwich bruh london is insane’.

And another sandwich-lover considered: ‘Sometimes cheaper is better. I hate that feeling when you finely decide to try something that cost more, only to be let down.’
