A mother who spent 40 minutes getting ready to take her child to soft play has claimed she was ousted by other parents for being ‘too sexy’.

Abby Roberts, from Wolverhampton, said she had applied intricate make up and curled her hair before taking her six-year-old son Noah to an inside play centre.

She said she thought she ‘looked great’, but her appearance caused other parents to turn their back on her. ‘Basically I was too sexy for soft play,’ Ms Roberts told The Sun. ‘I was ousted from it.’

The 26-year-old said she spent £3,200 curating her wardrobe for soft play, which consists of designer jeans, blouses and tops rather than the typical leggings and baggy jumpers.

Ms Roberts said she was attempting to create an ‘overall image’.

She said she thought she ‘looked great’, but her appearance caused other parents to turn their back on her. ‘Basically I was too sexy for soft play,’ Ms Roberts said

‘My soft play wardrobe included a designer leather jacket, coats with faux fur collars, blouse and tops from River Island, a selection of branded jeans, skirts and mid heel boots and trainers,’ she added.

‘I like to look polished and to challenge people’s expectations of what a young single mum should look like.’

But her glamorous appearance backfired when she decided to join a soft play group with six-year-old Noah, Ms Roberts has claimed.

‘I was feeling isolated and wanted to make new mum friends,’ she said. ‘Like any new parent I was feeling vulnerable and thought I’d be welcomed with open arms.’

But, according to the mother-of-one, this wasn’t the case.

Ms Roberts had spent an hour getting ready for their first play session, curling her hair and choosing a co-ordinated outfit.

‘But when I got to soft play, I was the only one with full makeup and every other mum was in a baggy jumper, jogging bottoms and sporting mum buns,’ she said.

Ms Roberts has found a new place for soft play – but has refused to change her wardrobe

The mother said she ‘immediately’ felt unwelcome when she said hello to the others.

Ms Roberts also claimed the other mothers had given her ‘looks’ and ‘laughed in my direction’ when she entered. ‘It was like a battleground,’ she said.

‘I was effectively turfed out for looking too good.’

Since this alleged incident, Ms Roberts has found a new place for soft play – but has refused to change her wardrobe.
