DEAR DEIDRE: I WAS horrified to see that the care home where my grandmother lives is infested with mice.
I saw them when I went to drop off some shopping for her.
I called the manager, who advised me the residents’ rooms are cleaned once a week and pest control comes twice a week.
He also admitted that they’d had an issue with mice for ten years.
I’m 24. My grandmother is 78 and not in the best of health.
It’s not OK that this is accepted as something they have to live with.

I don’t know what I can do about it.
I’m worried if I make a complaint the staff will treat my grandmother badly.

DEIDRE SAYS: This is serious neglect.
Don’t be fobbed off by the manager. If the care home place is being funded by the local council, then you should contact them.
