The Only Way Is Essex star Amy Childs exclusively revealed to OK! that she’s expecting twins with her boyfriend Billy Delbosq – something which came as a shock to the pair.
While Amy, 32, had come off contraception last year, the reality TV star didn’t expect to conceive so quickly as she discovered she was pregnant just two months later. Making the surprise even bigger, she later found out she’s carrying twins.
Now, in her exclusive column for OK! , Amy is charting her pregnancy and how she feels like she’s “going back to square one” despite already having two children.
This week, Amy talks about her late night hospital call, the prices of childcare and the possibility of the twins coming next week…
It’s Billy’s 40th soon!
Billy turns 40 in two weeks so I said that we could go to London and he can pick out something nice and we’ll go from there, because the twins could be here any minute. I’ve seen a baby bag that I really want as well, so I'm going to treat myself. We’ll only be out for a couple of hours.
I had to call the hospital in the middle of the night
A couple of nights ago I couldn’t sleep at all. I got up around 1am and my tummy was really cramping. I’ve had it before, it’s not like it’s my first baby, but I said to Bill that something felt different.
I rang the hospital around 3:30am and said, ‘Look, I feel like I’ve really got a belly ache and bad belly pain’. I told them that the babies were moving and really active, which was good, because what I didn’t want to do was to go up to the hospital for them to check me, see that they were moving and tell me it's just Braxton Hicks. They say that with twins you apparently get double the contractions as such because there’s two of them in there.
I’m a worrier, so if the babies weren’t moving I’d have definitely gone down to hospital.
When I was getting the twinges I thought, ‘Oh my god, are they coming now?’. I was asking people on Instagram when they went into labour with twins, and a lot of people said around 35/36 weeks, and I’m 35 weeks on Monday. The sensations I’ve been getting could be the start of early labour… My belly’s dropped too.
My psychic thinks I’ll give birth this month…
I saw a psychic for a reading and some people think that something will definitely happen to them if a psychic says so, but I take it more with a pinch of salt.
My psychic did say to me though that I’m going to be in labour soon and have a natural birth. He said this to me last week and he does my reading once a month. He told me I’ll be giving birth next week. Could you imagine if he was right?!
He’s adamant I’ll be having the babies in March.
Our babymoon was lovely!
The babymoon was really nice. We both had full body massages – mine was a maternity one.
Back in January we were thinking about going to Dubai for a babymoon or spending a week in Marbella, but time just got in the way. It just was nice to get two days away and the hotel was really good. It was nice to have some time to ourselves and to have a rest. Now we’re ready for the babies to come!
Childcare is so expensive but I’ve already put the twins down for a nursery
At the moment, Rich gets 15 hours childcare for free, but I do think about the mother mums out there who haven’t got additional childcare such as their mums and have to do everything by themselves. The new Spring Budget plans will be amazing for mums like that as they definitely need the extra support.
Nursery fees are an absolute fortune. To put Rich through nursery, I’m looking at about £100 a day, and that’s for seven hours. He goes in at 9am and I go pick him up at 5 o’clock. It’s a lot of money, especially when Polly was there as well.
It’s sad that some mums are going to work just to cover their childcare costs. I’m a working mum too and the twins have already been put down for a nursery and they’ll probably start going there when they’re a year old because I’ll be needing to go back to work.
Come back next week to hear more about Amy's pregnancy.
