Kate Middleton ‘will always overshadow’ King Charles with her ‘beauty and youth’ – even though she has no desire to ‘eclipse him like Diana’, a royal expert has claimed.
The Princess of Wales, 41, released a number of behind-the-scenes videos on social media over the past week during the King’s Coronation, showing her family preparing for the historic events.
Meanwhile she also opened the final of the Eurovision song contest in spectacular fashion on Saturday night, with a touching piano performance tribute to Ukraine.
It appears to mark a new era for the royal mother-of-three, who seems to grown in confidence and is fast becoming The Royal Family’s not-so-secret weapon.
But royal experts questioned whether her star might be shining a little too brightly – and told FEMAIL she could be at risk of overshadowing King Charles.
Kate Middleton, 41, needs to be wary because she ‘will always overshadow’ King Charles, 74, in certain ways – despite being ‘horrified’ by the thought, a royal expert has claimed
Royal expert Ingrid Seward noted there are clear differences between Kate and her late mother-in-law Diana
Royal expert Ingrid Seward said: ‘The Princess of Wales will always visually overshadow a 74-year-old man with her youth and beauty.’
However the Editor in Chief Majesty magazine noted there are clear differences between Kate and her late mother-in-law Diana, writing: ‘She would never attempt to eclipse him as Diana once did and would be horrified to think that is what is being said.
‘She is extremely respectful of her father-in-law and would not have done dreamt of doing anything that would take the limelight from him over the coronation weekend.’
She continued: ‘He probably asked her to play the piano from Windsor Castle as an opener of Eurovision.
‘She would not have done it without clearance and probably plenty of persuasion from the King.’
Meanwhile Ingrid added: ‘Charles is a past master of wordage and delivery especially whenever he makes a pronouncement.
‘He is not the helpless bystander he was in the early days of his marriage to Diana.’
As the Princess of Wales, Kate has stepped right out into the limelight and appears happy to embrace her power.
On recent walkabouts, she appears relaxed, talking to the public and readily posing for selfies, hugging a crying child.

A source told Mail On Sunday this weekend: ‘The Princess has grown in confidence and that comes with time and experience of doing the job.
‘It’s apparent in her public speaking and by branching out with her own projects like the Shaping Us early years project.’
Last year, experts said Kate had become ‘more confident’ on solo royal trips because she finds it easier to relax without Prince William by her side.
Describing the Princess’ engagements last spring, Robert Jobson said: ‘She was all smiles, very confident. Kate seemed more relaxed without William, who can be a bit fussy when he’s on royal jobs.
‘Probably more confident than when she’s alongside William. She spoke very well. I thought she really came out of herself when she was there…She didn’t have to refer to William.
‘When you see them together, she’s always double-checking whether it’s the right thing to do, even now.’
Meanwhile, experts said she has appeared to be ‘sharing more’ about her family because she ‘needed to raise the bar’ following Megxit.
Royal biographer Sarah Gristwood said the mother-of-three’s candid confessions showed she has opened up, telling People: ‘The changing times have required Kate to start to share a bit more.
‘She’s done it carefully enough to be relatable — nothing that would cause controversy and nothing that could be considered oversharing.’
On Saturday, Kensington Palace released a stunning behind-the-scenes video of the Prince and Princess of Wales at the King’s Coronation.
The video, released by the Wales’s official YouTube account, shows William and Kate meeting crowds of royal fans on the Mall outside Buckingham Palace the evening before the coronation.
It then shows William and Kate getting ready at Kensington Palace along with Charlotte and Louis the following morning.
The royal couple can be seen wearing their stunning Royal Victorian Order Mantles, while Kate wowed with her white Alexander McQueen dress.

The family then leave the palace to travel to Westminster Abbey in a gold carriage, alongside thousands of armed forces personnel and Buckingham Palace household members.
William, Kate and their children are then spotted standing on the Buckingham Palace balcony along with other members of the Royal Family after the Coronation ceremony.
The royals and the tens of thousands of people gathered outside the palace were then treated to a flyover by the Red Arrows despite the poor weather.
The following day, the family can be seen in the film pitching in for the Big Help Out – a volunteering event held across the country to celebrate the King’s years of public service.
Prince Louis can be seen helping out with a digger while his brother George has a go at archery before the family join in a group photo with the other volunteers.
The video ends with clips taken at the Coronation Concert at Windsor Castle which starred Katy Perry, Lionel Ritchie and Take That before William makes a speech in honour of the King.
He told his father: ‘We are all so proud of you.’
Hours later, the Princess opened the final of Eurovision in spectacular fashion, with a touching piano performance tribute to Ukraine.
Kate played piano alongside last year’s Ukrainian winners, the Kalush Orchestra, in a stunning opening sequence for the grand final, shown to an estimated worldwide audience of 160 million.
