Kanye West is facing a $4.5 million lawsuit from his former manager, Thomas St. John, but the case is having trouble moving forward since the plaintiff’s attorneys haven’t been able to find Ye to serve him with a court notice.
Apparently, the ex-manager’s legal team is trying to get creative, as evidence by their latest attempt to serve Kanye.

According to court documents obtained by Radar Online, a judge recently denied a motion from St. John that requested permission to serve Kanye through an alternative method. St. John specifically wanted to publish an advertisement in a newspaper with the paperwork, arguing this was the most likely way to get Kanye to see them.
The business manager’s legal team said they’ve tried for months to locate Kanye, but with no avail. His business addresses are allegedly invalid, and they haven’t been able to locate him at any of his addresses.
Ultimately, they judge denied the request. In fact, the judge insinuated the plaintiff’s team needed to try harder; they have to attempt to make contact at the residence Kanye is believed to be residing at three times before an alternative method would be permitted.
St. John’s legal team aren’t the only ones having trouble locating the rapper. Earlier this month, it was reported that Kanye’s own attorneys struggled to get in contact with him for months to inform him they were quitting.
The firm claims Ye abandoned his primary residences and business as well as changed his phone number and stopped replying to messages.
They were eventually able to track him down at an address that Kanye isn’t believed to frequent very often.
“The address at which Ye was personally served is not one that is publicly affiliated with Ye or his businesses, but one that Ye nonetheless frequents,” a statement from the firm said.
It’s unknown where Kanye is currently living, but he has multiple properties to his name. Recently, his LA ranch made headlines over photos showing the property dilapidated and seemingly abandoned.
His businesses have also been affected. In December, it was reported that Yeezy’s headquarters were being evicted after falling behind on rent. Kanye is facing a multitudes of legal and financial troubles. He lost his billionaire status after Adidas cancelled its collaborations with Yeezy following Ye’s controversial behavior.
He’s also facing a variety of lawsuits, including a $250 million defamation case filed by the family of George Floyd.
