Kevin Costner’s estranged wife claims he has no ‘legal basis’ to kick her out of home: report
Kevin Costner’s estranged wife, Christine Baumgartner, reportedly claims the movie star nonchalantly let their three children know that they were splitting up after 18 years of marriage.
“After a 24-year relationship, from his hotel room in Las Vegas, Kevin told our three children that we were getting divorced over a 10-minute Zoom call without me present,” the designer alleged in new court documents obtained by People Wednesday.
“I am still confused by his motivation to do this via a very short Zoom session, especially since he was planning on being home five days later. He also could have easily come home from Las Vegas to have the conversation in person.”
Baumgartner, 49, claimed she told Costner, 69, prior to him breaking the divorce news to their kids that she wanted to tell them “in person and together” as their children’s welfare has always been her “highest priority.”
She added that she feared the children would learn about the split from an “outside source.”
Baumgartner then alleged, per People, that Costner “disregarded my proposal to do what I felt was right based on research and my relationship with the children.”
“Instead, he insisted that he had the right to tell them that we were getting divorced ‘first’ and tell them privately ‘without me present,’” she further claimed in the docs.
Costner’s attorneys could not immediately be reached for comment on Baumgartner’s latest allegations.
However, a source close to the “Yellowstone” star told People that the actor’s ex filed for divorce in May while he was filming on location, and explained that he “FaceTimes all the time with the kids when he is away working.”
Baumgartner’s new claims are the latest in what appears to be an increasingly hostile divorce between the former couple.
The handbag designer also asked the court recently to award her $248,000 a month in child support for her three kids with Costner: Cayden Wyatt, 16, Hayes Logan, 14, and Grace Avery, 13.
She argued that the funds she is seeking are “less than the amount needed to maintain the children in their accustomed lifestyle.”
As a result of Baumgartner’s request, Costner’s financial information for 2022 was released, despite his wishes. The “Bodyguard” star had a net income that was reportedly $7,595,520 after taxes last year.

Costner previously told the judge he wanted to keep his bank records private out of fear that “irreparable harm” will be done to him by fraudsters, burglars and “unwanted and embarrassing global media attention.”
Baumgartner was the one to end the marriage after nearly two decades, citing “irreconcilable differences” at the time.
Page Six exclusively learned in May that Costner was blindsided by the filing.
A source previously told us the “Dances with Wolves” star was “stunned,” adding that he found the separation “disappointing” since he still “loves [Baumgartner] and he loves his children.”
The insider also denied that infidelity was behind the divorce — despite Costner’s past cheating scandal — and reaffirmed there was “no issue of cheating at all” between him and Baumgartner.
