We’re just two weeks into the new season of Love Island and already this year’s cast have kept us glued to our screens – with everything from sneaky kisses and shock recouplings to epic fall-outs. But while we all love a bit of drama, it’s the fashion that’s really been turning our heads.
The ITV2 dating show is already famous for its slew of saucy outfits, but this year the stars have taken it one step further. From mesh cut-out dresses to lace-up styles that leave little to the imagination, this year's Islanders have showcased some seriously stylish and racy ensembles that are inspiring our own summer 'fits.
Accessories are also proving big this year. From Tasha Ghouri's 90s-inspired beaded necklaces to the blue elbow-length gloves Danica Taylor wore on her first evening in the villa, there's been no shortage of fashionable moments so far, as well as some… interesting fashion choices (Luca, we're looking at your 'fish flops').
As the long-awaited summer of love continues, we're taking a look at some of the most iconic fashion trends of Love Island 2022 so far – plus, where you can shop some of your favourite on-screen looks…
Cut-out dresses
Although their 'type on paper' varies from looks to someone they simply get 'vibes' from, this year's Love Island girls share one thing in common: their love for racy cut-out dresses.
Each and every Islander has put their own spin on the trend during their time in the villa so far, but some of our favourites include Paige Thorne's black lace-up number from Sorelle UK, £34.99 here, as well as the green sequinned dress Tasha wore for the group's first ever party. The star's glitzy dress was originally sold at Pretty Little Thing for £14.50 here, but it's now out of stock in all sizes.
More recently, 24 year old nanny Amber Beckford championed the look in a lilac mesh style from Poster Girl, £89 here. The star's exact colourway is no longer available, but you can still purchase the dress in colours like hot pink, bright yellow and orange – perfect for wearing to festivals, holidays and more.
Opting for a similar look but in black, Essex-based actress Ekin-Su Cülcüloğlu wore a stretchy lace dress from Sorelle UK that retails online for £19.99 here. Described on the brand's website as 'lingerie', the look is completely see-through and is designed to be layered over underwear or swimwear.
Elbow-length gloves
Another fashion trend hitting the villa is elbow-length gloves. Showcased by Danica on the night she controversially coupled up with Luca Bish, the star's unique accessory was in fact part of the blue mesh dress she was wearing – a halter-neck mini with cut-out detailing at the bust and a flattering criss-cross back design.
The whole look, including the matching gloves, is available to purchase from White Fox Boutique for £47 here. She may not have found 'the one' yet, but her wardrobe has certainly stolen our hearts.
Nineties beaded necklaces
Proving why she's this year's style icon, Tasha has been channelling both the nineties and the Y2K era with the majority of her outfits, especially when it comes to her accessories. Over the past two weeks, the model and dancer, 23, has been upgrading her looks with some very nostalgic neckwear, sporting a collection of candy-coloured beaded necklaces, including one with the word 'love' made out of pearlescent beads.
If you'd like to copy the Love Islander's look, you can shop our pick of the best beaded necklaces next.
Fish flops
OK, so this may not be a style you'd like to nab for yourself, but Luca's 'fish flops' have certainly made us giggle this season. Showing how much he loves his day job, the 23-year-old fishmonger left viewers baffled when he was spotted wearing a pair of fish-shaped sliders. No, not shoes with a fish print all over them – we're talking entire fish that you slide your feet into.
Fans of the show took to Twitter to share their thoughts on this fishy footwear, with one person writing: “I know Luca loves his job but he’s taking it a step too far with his fish shoes."
Another said: "sorry has nobody clocked that Luca is wearing FISH SHOES are u kidding me.”
With Crocs taking off in last year's season, who knows? Perhaps 'fish-flops' are the next big thing? Watch this space.
