After winning Love Island in 2021, Mille Court opened up to her Instagram followers about the struggles she’d faced with her skin over the years, including before and after photos of her battle with acne.
Millie has continued to speak openly with her followers about her skin ever since, and on Tuesday she gave her followers a much-anticipated update about how her skin had been, particularly over the harsh winter months when skin tends to be at its worst.
Millie shared an Instagram story showing a close up of her face as she sunbathed on holiday, with a lengthy caption detailing how her skin had been the last few months. In the caption Millie explained she was resharing the photo, which she’d first posted a few days earlier, to talk about the marks on her face.
In the photo, small dark marks can be seen all over her face, which Millie says: “might be mistaken for freckles but they are not!” Instead, the former Love Islander confirmed that they are scars and marks from where she’d previously picked at spots, which she admits: “is a BAD habit of mine, before you guys think my skin is getting better”.
Picking at spots and acne can cause them to worsen, as well as leave dark marks and scarring in their place once the spot itself heals up. It can also cause them to spread, and excessive touching of your face whilst picking can cause additional dirt, oils, and bacteria to create even more spots – definitely not recommended!
Millie went on to confess her skin is never where she wants it to be, and although the sun does help clear up her spots, it also leaves her with some sort of scarring or marking on her face. Weather can have a big impact on your skin, with colder weather causing excessive drying of the skin, which in turn leads to worsening acne.
Millie shared her similar struggles, saying: “My skin has been bad throughout the winter and I feel like I’m nearly out the other end again where I can start back up microneedling.” I couldn’t do it throughout the winter because I had too many spots!”
In avideo on on YouTube, Millie had previously revealed her intensive skincare routine that her dermatologist came up with to help fight her acne. However, she also credits microneedling with helping to reduce the scarring left behind once her acne had cleared up.
Microneedling works by pricking your skin all over with fine needles. To heal those pinprick-sized wounds, the skin produces more collagen, which helps to reduce pre-existing scarring.
Millie finished off her update by saying although she’d been feeling really down about her skin recently – hence the lack of updates about it – that it was an up and down rollercoaster for her when it comes to skin. She ended her updated saying: “We’re still beautiful on our bad days and we need to remember that!” Amen Millie!
