A mom-of-five has posted a ‘PSA for husbands everywhere’ after capturing her partner’s very uncomfortable Christmas morning realization when he realized that his wife’s stocking had been left completely empty.

Utah dad Josh Jones, 33, filmed his family as they opened their gifts over the 2021 holiday season, with his wife, Aubree, sharing the now-viral clip on her TikTok late last month.

As he panned around his living room – surveying presents, torn-up wrapping paper and the stockings for their then-four daughters, plus the dog – he eventually noticed an empty sock draped on the couch.

‘Whose is this?’ he asked, before wondering out loud to Aubree, ‘Is this an extra one?’ while holding it up to show her.

‘No, that’s mine!’ she said with a chuckle. 

‘Why’s it empty?’ he asked.

‘I don’t know, Santa didn’t come for me!’ she answered as the clip concluded.

‘It took him 10 years to notice it’s been empty this whole time,’ Aubree captioned the post.

The 31-second video has racked up more than one million likes and tens of thousands of comments in the weeks since it was posted.

While Aubree didn’t seem outwardly upset in the moment, countless women took to the comments section to vent their anger and sadness on behalf of wives everywhere whose husbands forget to give them gifts on Christmas.

‘She laughs. But I knew inside it hurt,’ one popular comment read.

The Utah-based family includes five daughters – and the couple is expecting the arrival of their sixth child any day now

Tens of thousands of viewers took to the comments to commiserate with what they perceived to be as Josh’s grave oversight

‘All of us women felt that in our stomach. That hurt,’ a second echoed. 

‘The hurt she hid behind that smile and chuckle,’ a third chimed in. 

‘The moms create Christmas magic for everyone, including the dog but are forgotten every single year,’ a fourth sadly reflected.

‘As a woman who is contemplating leaving, this broke my heart bc (because) it really does hurt,’ a fifth emphasized.

‘Did he really ask her why it was empty,’ another gaped.

‘The little girl in her felt so left out,’ someone else observed.

But Aubree claimed to have taken Josh’s oversight on her stocking over 10 Christmases in stride, clarifying in a later post that he did get her other presents.

‘Everyone is more upset with my husband than I am. It’s nice to have a stocking, but I wasn’t bothered by it. That’s why I laughed when he pointed it out,’ she wrote in the follow-up caption to a video showing her receiving other gifts from Josh.

‘This was supposed to be a call out to other men who might not realize their wife doesn’t have a stocking,’ she continued.

‘He forgot to fill my stocking, but definitely remembered to make me feel loved and special through gifts and many other things. Everyone can relax. He won’t forget my stocking this year.’

Since Christmas 2021, the couple welcomed a fifth daughter, and Aubree is currently expecting the arrival of their sixth child any day now.
