Married at First Sight UK's Ella Morgan is set to make history as the show's first transgender participant.
The 29 year old clinic consultant from Weston-Super-Mare will be among many who will be tying the knot with the complete strangers in the new series of MAFS, which will be launching on Monday.
Ahead of her appearance on the show, Ella has been promoting the series on her social media page, reflecting on being the show's first trans bride.
Reflecting on this on her Instagram page, she wrote: "Naturally I feel pressure to be a voice and speak for a community who receive minimal representation, a minority who have such a misunderstanding in society, and as a group of people feel judged, misheard and stereotyped.
"I hope to see some people’s perception change from me just being my true self. Being trans is just a small part of who I am and I can’t wait for you to meet Ella and see there is more to me.
"My hopes are to inspire others to feel they can be themselves, unapologetically and be proud to live as their authentic selves."
Outside of her newfound TV career, Ella works as a clinic consultant, and although she is rather private about her personal life on social media, her Instagram bio describes her as: "Unique, Outrageous, Unapologetic, Beauty, Fashion, Ivan’s Mom, SurgeryConsultant."
Ahead of the show's launch, Ella spoke to OK! and other press about her transition journey.
She said: "I knew I was a girl from about the age of six but I didn’t know for a fact until I did sex education when I was about 12.
Then at 16 I told my mum and dad that I couldn’t bear life anymore and started transitioning from then. I was 20 when I had my surgery. I’ve been fully completed for quite some years now.”
Opening up about her reasons for wanting to marry a stranger, Ella admitted that she’s found it “really hard” to date.
“I think for me personally, I can’t be picky because most guys aren’t willing to tell their friends and family that their girlfriend Ella is trans,” she said.
“I just thought, ‘OK I’m never going to meet anyone then.’ I tried and tried and tried, and I thought the only way I was ever going to get married, let alone just get a boyfriend, was by doing something like this.”
