If you’re looking for colour inspiration for an upcoming hair appointment, may we point you in the direction of Molly-Mae Hague and her pristine, creamy highlights. The PLT creative director is showing off her fresh blonde hue on Instagram this week, and it’s the perfect shade for summer.
In fact, this shade of blonde is called a “milky” colour and it’s a top trend for 2022. Ever on-trend herself, Molly-Mae is rocking the look on Instagram this week, and took to the app yesterday to thank her go-to hair expertEmily Rose Monkfor her work on refreshing her colour.
“Little refresh,” she captions the Instagram Story, showing her fresh, flowing lengths off in the back of a taxi.
It’s also clear from Molly-Mae’s recent Positano trip photos that she had her colour re-done before heading off on holiday. The 23 year old’s hair in all of the beachy snaps looks perfectly toned and creamy, and her front sections have been given a “money piece” style of brightness.
Fancy copying Molly-Mae’s milky blonde hair? Here’s exactly what the colour is, and what to ask your hairdresser for…
“This shade takes inspiration from platinum blonde but has a more expensive and luxe finish, achieved by highlighting and lowlighting techniques instead of one all-over colour,” explains Dylan Brittain, artistic director atRainbow Room International.
“By using a combination of highlighting and lowlighting techniques, this not only gives the hair incredible shine, but also a softer finish than that of the platinum blonde hair trend.
“The finished result should be glimmers of different shades throughout the hair, creating a more natural appearance while also providing the hair with dimension and depth. This colour is also great combined with a dark root to substitute the lowlights, whereby the dark root can be used as a base colour with subtle thin highlights and babylights scattered throughout the rest of the hair to achieve the milky blonde look.”
Dylan does go on to explain that this type of colour is incredibly expensive to do and is costly to maintain, as it requires trips to the salon every couple of months to deal with the root regrowth and keep the colour toned. We doubt Molly-Mae has trouble getting regular hair appointments, though!
