Moment Canadian man tries a Greggs sausage roll for the first time… after waiting TWO YEARS to try one

Greggs is a firm favourite in the UK… but do Brits take its baked goods for granted? 

A Canadian has shared the moment he tried a Greggs sausage roll for the first time – and described the taste as ‘unreal’ and he would happily eat ‘four a day’.

The TikTok by Matt Giffen (@mattgiffenn) captioned ‘the moment you’ve all been wating for’ has amassed over 446,000 views.

The Toronto native says it’s been ‘two years in the making’ for his first bite, and he’s been ‘waiting for this moment’ ever since he met his British girlfriend.

He excitedly told viewers ‘Guys, I’m about to have Greggs for the first time ever, words can’t explain how excited I am right now,’ as he ordered two vegan sausage rolls and one classic meat version.

Calling the sausage rolls ‘beautiful,’ he continued ‘We’ve secured the Greggs. 

‘So when we walked into Greggs just now we asked for a vegan sausage roll and they didn’t have any so he said ‘oh, you have to wait ten minutes’ so we gladly did because look at this.’

‘The freshest Greggs sausage roll you have ever seen in your life.’

Before tucking in, he explained ‘Ever since I met Summer, you don’t understand, I’ve been waiting for this moment right now. This is two years in the making for this bite.

‘I’m afraid that the journey leading up to it’s gonna be better than the treasure you know.’

He began by tasting the vegan sausage roll and he laughed but didn’t say anything, claiming he ‘needs to try the other one’ first. 

After taking his first bite of the classic version, he exclaimed ‘The normal sausage is f***** unreal. I would eat four of these a day, this could f*** me up.’ 

As for the vegan version, he was less impressed as he told viewers ‘I don’t know about the vegan sausage roll.

‘I don’t know if it’s cooked enough or something. It’s like paste, is it supposed to be pasty?’

Matt’s girlfriend Summer also gave her verdict, adding ‘This is my seven hundredth millionth one so I still like it as much as I did yesterday but I do agree the meat one’s better.’

The Canadian concluded the clip by saying ‘I feel like I could happily leave the UK now, thanks to Gregg’.

One viewer commented ‘Steak bake! Yum Yums! You missed the essentials,’ to which the TikToker responded ‘Had one the next day, was fire’.

Other users added ‘Greggs Pizza slice is actually elite’ and ‘The vegan sausage rolls are sooooo much better slightly warm or cold’.

It isn’t the first time Matt has filmed his reaction to trying to British cuisine – last month he tried a roast dinner for the very first time which he said was the ‘greatest thing’ he’d ever seen in his life.

More recently he also gave a £2 meal from a London chicken shop a go, claiming he felt like he was in ‘Top Boy’.
