‘They won’t hate me when they are older… I hope’: Mother who shares the SAME NAME with her boyfriend and three children slams trolls who find the family tradition ‘stupid’

  • Alexandria Roy, 26, revealed on TikTok that her family shares the same name
  • She and her boyfriend, Deven, both have the middle name: Lauren
  • They passed down the moniker to their three children: Scarlett Lauren, Sapphire Lauren, and Maverick Lauren

A mother who shares a middle name with her boyfriend has defended their decision to give their three children the same moniker as part of their family tradition.

Alexandria Roy, 26, is known as @alexxroyaa on TikTok, where she has more than 284,000 followers. She has gone viral multiple times after revealing everyone in her immediate family has the same middle name: Lauren.

It is merely a coincidence that she and her boyfriend, Deven, have the name, but as she has explained in her videos, they liked the idea of passing it on to their kids.

The couple has two daughters, Scarlett Lauren and Sapphire Lauren, and a son, Maverick Lauren, as well as another baby on the way.

Lauren was traditionally a male name of Latin and French origins, but it is now considered to be unisex. In recent decades, the name has been more commonly given to girls in the U.S.

There are 60.02 people named Lauren for every 100,000 Americans, according to MyNameStats.com, although that doesn’t account for middle names.

In February, Alexandria hit back at a critic who called her ‘stupid’ for giving her children the same name, lip-syncing, ‘I don’t care.’

‘Let me enjoy the name my kids’ dad, myself and our kids share,’ she added in the caption.

The five-second clip has been viewed more than 10 million times and courted plenty of controversy, although many people had mistakenly assumed they all shared the same first name.

‘THIS AIN’T A SIDE EYE THIS IS A WHOLE HEAD TURN,’ one person wrote.

Alexandria has been candid about how she and Deven discovered they have the same middle names when they first met

The mom of three recalled how that they thought it ‘would be cute’ to give their children the same middle name – and they did just that

Alexandria has also been vocal about how she will pass down the family name to her unborn child, despite the criticism

‘How do they even know who [you’re] calling for?’ another asked, whole someone else added, ‘What if [you] call on them and they be like “which one.”

Alexandria clarified in the comments that it is their middle name that is the same, which eased some of the backlash.

‘It’s just the middle names guys, I had to look it up lol,’ one person wrote. ‘Pretty common. I was worried it was all the same first names.’

‘My siblings and I all have the same names but the only difference is the first,’ someone else shared.

‘We’re talking about middle names here. I don’t get the problem,’ another viewer agreed. ‘My middle name has been passed down four generations.’

Alexandria has been candid about how she and Deven discovered that they have the same middle names when they first met.

‘Deven thought I was messing with him when we first started dating and I told him we had the same middle name,’ she recalled in a recent Instagram post.

Alexandria continues to stand by her decision, and, in a recent clip, she responded to a commenter who claimed her children ‘have no individuality with the same name’

She pointed out that they only share a middle name and ‘definitely have their own identities’

‘They won’t hate me when they are older, I hope,’ she added in the caption

‘He said, “Are you making fun of me?” because the name is considered a girl’s name. I said absolutely not [and] that I wasn’t lying!

‘So we said it was meant to be and if we ever had kids we would pass down the middle name to them too [and] that’s exactly what we did, 7 years later, 3 kids in.’

In other videos, she has clapped back at those who have accused her of giving her son a ‘girl’s name’ while sharing the reasoning behind it.
