It comes after one desperate mum reached out to users on the Mrs Hinch Cleaning Tips page on Facebook to ask for help on the build up of sludge in and around her washing machine.
And it was proving stubborn to remove as it became grimy over time.
The mother reached out for help from users on the social media site, as she asked: ‘Help. I’ve neglected our washing machine since becoming a mum and now it has a build-up of black on the seal that I can’t seem to wipe off. Any suggestions, please? Thank you.’
Luckily, fans of the cleaning pro were quick to offer helpful tried-and-tested advice – with several people suggesting the same product to do the trick.
The one item that came out on top was the Astonish Mould and Mildew Spray.
Several people on Facebook commented they had used the spray themselves to not only get rid of the grime, but also get their washing machine sparkling again.
One Mrs Hinch fan wrote on the social media site: ‘Astonish Mould and Mildew spray. If you use this you’ll find that the mould wipes straight off.’
Someone else agreed, writing: ‘This stuff is really good.
‘Recently I used it in the detergent drawer and where the water comes out. It’s a game changer for removing black build-up.’
Astonish Mould and Mildew spray can be picked up from as little as 95p in Wilko, and it comes in an apple burst scent too
And another helpful Facebook user added: ‘Astonish Mould and Mildew. Spray it on and leave it for a few minutes and it’ll all come off.’
It can be purchased for as little as 95p in Wilko, or £1 in the Poundshop.
And on the higher end, it goes for £1.19 in Asda or £1.20 from Iceland.
As well as unscented, the spray comes in an apple burst scent to get rid of any unpleasant damp smells.
In order to use it, all you need to do is spray it inside your washing machine, making sure you get the damp, and leave it for a few minutes to soak in.
Then just rinse or wipe it clean.
