DEAR DEIDRE: I AM panicking after my ex-boyfriend left me with an enormous gas and electric bill I cannot afford to pay.
I’m 42, he is 45 and we were together for three years.
A month ago he suddenly said he didn’t love me any more and left. I’m devastated.
We lived together and shared all the bills. The arrangement worked for both of us.
This huge bill has scared me and I don’t know how I am going to pay it.
I haven’t contacted anyone about my predicament because I am terrified I will be disconnected, or will have to have a meter installed.

I’m not sure I could cope with that in my current mental state. I suffer from anxiety.
I have a six-year-old son and I fear I won’t be able to cook and keep him warm.
