DEAR DEIDRE: DISCOVERING a pile of women’s clothes in my son’s bedroom wasn’t a complete surprise.
Unexpected packages have been arriving at the house for some time.
I’m his mum and I’m 50. My son is 28.
He’s a loner and although he has a job, he doesn’t have many friends and spends a lot of time in his room.
I was tidying his room up the other day and found a mixture of women’s clothes and underwear in his wardrobe.
He doesn’t have a girlfriend so I know they are his.
I want him to live his life as he wants to.
Should I tell him what I’ve found?

DEIDRE SAYS: No. He is entitled to a private life and when the time is right, he’ll tell you what he wants you to know.
At 28, he may still be discovering who he really is.
Make sure he knows that you love him and you’re always there for a chat.
You can find support at beaumontsociety.org.uk (01582 412 220).
To avoid any more shocks, leave him to tidy his own room too.
