With World Beard Day today (September 2), we decided to take a look at why facial hair makes men attractive.
And there's more science to it than you think, apparently.
From confidence to being a sign of masculinity, facial fuzz could give you some big benefits, according to experts.

And the explanations may see you ditching your razor for good.
According to website Bossman, having a beard can be great for accentuating your face.
They write: "Due to their position on the face, a beard can accentuate your jawline, giving you one worthy of a movie star.
"Beards can also help cover a weaker chin, acne scars, or other issues that may make you feel less attractive."
Those who feel more attractive also become confident.
People often look for confidence in a partner, and a beard could be just the thing to win you a mate.
As well as confidence, beards are seen as known to be sign of masculinity since a strong jawline is correlated with a higher level of testosterone.
Many women find masculine traits very attractive, so growing a beard may definitely help you in that department.
Well-groomed beards are also associated with patience and maturity, as growing one takes time, commitment and consistency.
They are known to have health benefits too – including protecting the skin from UV rays, reducing the chance of getting a bacterial infection, and even helping those with asthma by filtering out dust and pollen.
These health benefits can subconsciously make you more attractive to a mate.
The influence of media and culture cannot be ignored too, with bearded men often shown as heroes and heartthrobs. This helps shape public perception and means people link beards with charisma, strength, and attractiveness.
Actual science even proves women often find men with beards more attractive, according to a 2020 study by Barnaby J. Dixson and Robert C Brooks.
After judging a number of pictures which saw men with different amounts of facial hair, the vast majority of women found full-bearded lads to be the best looking.
Women saw men with full beards to be the most healthy, and the best suited to be parents.

The study also showed that as facial hair length increased, the men were viewed as more masculine.
These findings were confirmed before this in another study published by the Journal of Evolutionary Biology in 2016.
This study asked over 8,500 women to rate men with different lengths of facial hair.
The ladies were shown pictures of men who were clean shaven, wearing light stubble, heavy stubby, and a full beard.
And, you've guess it, once again results showed women were more attracted to those who had some sort of facial hair.
So if you're single, ready to mingle and thinking about growing your beard to keep your warm this winter, you probably should if you want to win over that date!
