Every house hunter has their own set of dealbreakers.
Maybe you need a big kitchen, high ceilings, or perhaps you’re more concerned with location.
But whatever must haves you have on your wish list, we bet ‘fully working organ’ isn’t one of them.
Well, it might be time to reconsider, as a restored Welsh chapel is on the market for £375,000 – and it comes with an organ, gallery seating and pulpit.
Listed as a ‘character property’, the two bed home in the coastal town of Tywyn is certainly unique.
While the basement floor is a more ‘traditional’ flat, with a modern kitchen, bathroom and living room, the upstairs is rather different.
The ground floor of the flat looks much the same as it would have done when it was still a functioning chapel – it still has an organ, pulpit, arcades and columns, and gallery seating.
However, the current owners have added in a fireplace, and appear to use it as a joint living and sleeping area.
A sofa, bed and wardrobe, and kitchen area can all be spotted in the images, which are part of the listing posted by Welsh Property Services on Rightmove.
The listing reads: ‘This former chapel has been lovingly restored by the present owners retaining all its original features but with the benefit of reroofing, restoring the organ which is still in working order, installing two bathrooms, oak flooring, complete wiring and the addition of a professional fire alarm system.’
And as well as the huge indoor space, you’ve got some room outside too.
‘There is a small amount of outside space to the front and side and a separate garden located at the rear with parking,’ adds the listing.
‘The chapel is gas centrally heated with 2 wood burning stoves, UPVC double glazing on the lower and ground floor levels.’
And for even more historical credentials, the cast iron radiators installed in the ground floor space were reclaimed from the Titanic building in Liverpool.
And if you do chose to put an offer down on this unusual home, you’ll have Snowdonia National Park on your doorstep.
