Royal fans went wild over Princess Charlotte’s striking resemblance to her great-aunt Princess Anne as she attended her first ever Wimbledon yesterday.

The royal, eight, joined the Prince and Princess of Wales, both 41,  and her older brother Prince George, nine, to watch Carlos Alcaraz’s triumph over Novak Djokovic in the Men’s Singles Final.

During the match, Charlotte was seated in between Kate Middleton and Prince George in the front row of the Royal Box.

Over the course of the four-and-half-hour match, the royal looked completely enthralled by the action – and appeared to be rooting for the 20-year-old Spaniard.

After Charlotte was pictured celebrating Carlos’ historic win, royal fans noted just how much the royal resembles her great aunt Princess Anne, 72.

In 1962, the Princess Royal watched Rod Laver win the championship over his fellow Australian national Martin Mulligan.

As she watched from the Royal Box, Princess Anne – who was 11 at the time – was equally riveted by the action.

At one particularly tense moment, the now mother-of-two furrowed her brow and seemed to cry out during the match.

Having watched Princess Charlotte’s animated reactions, royal fans highlighted just how much the young royal resembles her grandfather’s sister.

One tweeted: ‘Charlotte has got so Princess Anne’s [vibe].’

After one user shared two photos of the royal women’s reactions, another added: ‘Excellent comparison.

‘I was saying whilst watching how Princess Anne is the spitting image of Her Majesty The Queen at the same age.’

‘That’s awesome,’ a third gushed. Meanwhile, a fourth said: ‘Princess Anne is a wonderful child.’

Royal fans on Twitter said Princess Charlotte ‘gave off Princess Anne vibes’ during the heated match

According to royal author Brian Hoey, the Princess Royal – who is a keen equestrian – is not a particular fan of tennis, just like her late mother wasn’t.

In his 2020 book Royalty Revealed, he claimed: ‘The Princess Royal is also not much of an enthusiast, saying that Wimbledon is too “cauldron-like”.’

Princess Charlotte looked adorable in a blue floral dress as she arrived at the All England Club with her parents, the Prince and Princess of Wales, and her nine-year-old brother, Prince George.

Ahead of the gentlemen’s final between Serbia’s Novak Djokovic and Spain’s Carlos Alcaraz, the family met with hard working ball boys and girls – and Princess Charlotte was even lucky enough to make a fuss of police dog Stella.

On her first ever visit to the Wimbledon Championships, Charlotte also chatted to Mu’awwiz Anwar, who performed the coin toss ahead of the match.

But Louis, the youngest member of the family, was unhappy that he couldn’t join them despite practising being a ballboy this year.

Yesterday, the Princess of Wales told Ella Ottaway, who runs the All England Club’s young people programme: ‘It’s Charlotte’s first time, George came last year. They’ve been eagerly watching.

‘Charlotte, you’ve been getting to grips with the scoring. Louis was very upset he wasn’t coming today.’ After their conversation, 16-year-old ballboy Joel revealed that Louis ‘tries to practise the standing and staying serious like us’.
