Vegans have blasted Sainsbury's over its 'cruel' and 'sick' Christmas cards – depicting some poor pigs in a comprising position.
Although it's the time of year to be merry and jolly, this bunch of animal lovers have been left 'offended' by the decorative card which was spotted upon the supermarket shelves. One eagle-eyed shopper, who came across the card in the Charlton store, London, was stunned to see the satirical card teasing about the farmyard animal's future.
The controversial card featured a couple of pigs covered in snow in a very chilly scene, above them a message read: "Don't worry, I hear we're getting some blankets!"

And, the tongue-in-cheek card did not land very well at all with the shopper. They took to X, formerly Twitter, to vent their anger over the design. "Hello Sainsbury's, I know everyone's sense of humour is different but I think this is the saddest, unkindest Xmas card I've ever seen," the shopper said. "I wonder if you'll sell lots of them. I saw the card in Sainsbury's and thought it was unkind, sad and not really very funny.
"I'm not trying to get it banned. Just wanted to point out that it's not a funny or seasonal card."
It didn't take long for people to share their own distaste towards the card as many labelled the product 'offensive' to vegans, vegetarians and animal loving shoppers. Others said it to be 'sick', 'disgusting' and 'terrible'. And one even declared they would never shop at the supermarket again due to the design.
"That's awful," one blasted. "Shame on you, Sainsbury's. That is very offensive to vegetarians, vegans and basically animal lovers."

Another added: "I won't even be shopping in Sainsbury's now. They are not a very trustworthy brand if someone thought this was a good idea." While a third voiced: "I eat pork, but yeah. That's incredibly bleak and sad."
The supermarket acknowledged the tweet and replied to the shopper apologising about the tone of the card and said they have passed the complaint onto the relevant department for an internal review.
A Sainsbury's spokesperson added: "We offer a wide range of festive cards and welcome customer feedback on this year's designs."
