Footage of Maya Rudolph chatting with David Letterman in 2009 has resurfaced amid her revelation that she felt “embarrassed and humiliated” by him.

In a clip from her first “Late Show with David Letterman” appearance, the comedian, 50, could be seen receiving an apology from the late-night talk show host, 75, after he mispronounced her name before she walked out on stage.

“Thank you, Dave,” she said, placing her hand atop of his on her guest chair.

Rudolph recalled the mishap in an interview with WSJ. magazine, published on Friday.

“I did not have a good time,” the “Bridesmaid” star remembered.

“He said my name wrong, and I just sat there, like, I grew up my whole life in love with you. And now my heart is broken. And I’m sitting here embarrassed and humiliated.”

Rudolph admitted that she “didn’t know how to handle” the situation at the time.

“I didn’t know how to come up with something funny to say,” she confessed. “My public persona muscle wasn’t strong yet.”

However, since then, she’s “definitely gotten much better” at public appearances, she told the outlet, adding, “When I’m uncomfortable, I try to be funny.”
