Celebrity SAS: Who Dares Wins unveiled its biggest lineupof recruits yet. The show, which is aired on Channel 4 in September, has a massive 14 celebrities flying out to the heat of the Jordanian desert.
The original SAS: Who Dares Wins sees civilians put through military training exercises to test their physical and mental strength, and the celebrity spin-off launched in 2019.
This year there’s a whole host of stars taking part in the gruelling tasks and they feature former sports people as well as reality and soap personalities. We take a look at what each contestant is known for.
Ashley Cain
Ex on the BeachstarAshley Cainmay be best known for starring in the MTV series, but he’s also a former footballer.
Ashley, 31, faced a heartbreaking loss whenhis daughter Azaylia died of leukaemia in Aprillast year at the age of eight months.
He said: "Losing my daughter was the most difficult experience of my life. "I think to combat trauma you need to step outside your comfort zone and see who you really are. There’s no better way to do that than on Celebrity SAS: Who Dares Wins, so when the opportunity came, I took it with both hands!"
Amber Gill
Love IslandwinnerAmber Gilltook the crown on the ITV dating show in 2019.
Since then the star, 25, has made appearances on shows from Celebrity Mastermind to Loose Women and This Morning.
She said: "Celebrity SAS: Who Dares Wins is a massive test of who you are as an individual.
"I learnt so much about myself that I didn’t expect in such a short space of time, but let me tell you, it’s really f*****g hard!"
Maisie Smith
EastEndersactressMaisie Smith , who appeared toconfirm her relationship with Max George, is also taking part in the show this year.
The actress, 21, is also a former Strictly Come Dancing star and ahead of the show airing she said: "I've seen the show before and I really wanted to put my mental strength to the test.
"I’ve always pushed myself but this was beyond limits I didn’t even know I had. It was the best experience of my life."
Pete Wicks
TOWIEcast memberPete Wicksburst onto screens when he joined the Essex-based show in 2015.
Since then the 33 year old reality star has been no stranger to trying his hand out at celebrity-based shows.
In 2019 he appeared on Celebs Go Dating and the following year was spotted on Celebs Go Virtual Dating.
Later that year he appeared on Celebrity Masterchef and also The Celebrity Circle with pal Sam Thompson.
Ferne McCann
Joining the list of TOWIE stars entering the show isFerne McCann.
The mum of one, 32, appeared on I'm a Celebrity…Get Me Out of Here! in 2015 as well as fronting her own reality show Ferne McCann: First Time Mum as she navigates life as a parent to her daughter Sunday.
She said: "It just felt like the right time in my life to be challenged. I had no idea what to expect but I wanted to see how tough it really is.
"You’re stripped of everything, broken down to the point you have no choice but to build yourself back up again. It was the opportunity of a lifetime and I’m so glad I’ve done it."
AJ Pritchard
Strictly Come Dancing pro AJ Pritchard is best known for his skills on the dance floor for the BBC show.
However, he actually auditioned for a place on Britain’s Got Talent in 2013 – some three years before he was picked up by the BBC.
In 2018 he took part in Celebrity MasterChef and in 2020 headed to Australia for I'm a Celebrity…Get Me Out of Here.
Last year he made his appearance alongside brother Curtis on Hollyoaks.
Curtis Pritchard
AJ’s younger brother Curtis is also taking part in this year’s Celebrity SAS show.
While Curtis is also a dancer, he rose to fame when he appeared on Love Island in 2019. He’s also appeared on RuPaul's Drag Race UK as well as Celebs Go Dating: The Mansion.
Calum Best
Footballing legend George Best’s son Calum has been on many reality shows including Celebrity Love Island, Celebrity Big Brother and Celebs Go Dating.
Calum, 41, had a show on MTV called Totally Calum Best and among his many ventures he’s been on Celebrity Ex on the Beach as well as Celeb Ex in the City.
Jennifer Ellison
Actress and model Jennifer Ellison began her TV career on Brookside in 1998.
Since then she’s been a regular on Loose Women as well as starring in the West End and in pantomimes.
Fatima Whitbread
Athletics star Fatima Whitbread is best known for her Olympic medals for javelin throwing.
Fatima, 61, entered the I'm a Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here! jungle in 2011 and has also been on Who Wants to Be a Millionaire? as well as Celebrity Come Dine with Me.
Dwain Chambers
Track sprinter Dwain Chambers is lauded as one of the fastest European sprinters in the history of athletics.
The athlete, 44, who can run 100 metres in 9.97 seconds retired in 2014.
Jade Jones
Welsh taekwondo star Jade Jones is also taking part in this year’s series.
The 29 year old won Gold in the 2012 and 2016 Olympics as well as previously holding the record for the Youth Olympics.
Shannon Courtenay
British professional boxer Shannon Courtenay made her debut in 2019 and has gone on to have a stellar career in the ring.
However last year she failed to make weight for her fight with Jamie Mitchell and was stripped of her WBA Bantamweight World Title.
Jonathan Broom-Edwards
Paralympic athlete Jonathan Broom-Edwards began a high jump star after playing basketball as a child.
In the 2020 Olympic Games he took Gold and before that earned a Silver medal for his skills.
