A sexologist has gone to an open discussion to advise men struggling to keep his mojo going during sex.

Award-winning sex therapist Chantelle Otten, from Australia, met a patient on her podcast, Sex Therapy: Sessions with Chantelle Otten, as she helped him to get over erectile dysfunction.

The man, who is not named, believes he suffers from performance anxiety, saying that he could get hard during foreplay but would lose the erection before sex.

Chantelle explained that there are two normal scenarios for any men — that sometimes they will lose erections and sometimes they will ejaculate early.

"So if you meet someone and you develop a good repertoire with them, so you might be able to maintain your erection the first time and then from there on you stop stressing and you go — 'this is gonna be great, let's enjoy ourselves'.

"But if that doesn't happen, there's a real element of performance anxiety that you start stressing about."

Her patient then shared his previous experience when he went on a date with a woman.

He said: "I think that I'm a little socially awkward internally, specifically when meeting up with girls.

"I get quite deterred from doing that because I know that if things do well and I do like this girl, I think too far ahead.

"I think — 'well eventually we're going to be intimate and is this gonna be a problem'."

The sexpert then reminded him that having sex is about "sensory experience" and he should focus on what he feels good.

"Focus on pleasure, not performance," she gave him a piece of advice.

"So if you're going to have sex with someone, think about 'Okay what do they smell like? What does their skin feel like? What do I like about their body? Can we breathe in sync now?'"
