There’s nothing better than finding a product that not only benefits your skin, but also means you can cut down on the amount of other products you use too.
For some shoppers, that wonder product is the Medik8 Illuminating Eye Balm,£21.60 here(was £36), that is applied under your eyes to brighten and lift the appearance of dark circles and refresh tired eyes.
Pretty much anyone can suffer from dark circles under their eyes at some point, whether it's genetics or simply a lack of good sleep, so having a handy product in your makeup bag that not only conceals them, but helps to reduce them means you can probably throw out all those various pots of eye creams and concealers you’ve acquired over the years.
Unlike most eye balms that are clear and simply work to improve the appearance by hydrating and smoothing your skin, Medik8’s Illuminating Eye Balm is a multi-use product that actually contains some subtle pigment to conceal the dark circles whilst it works to improve the underlying cause at the same time.
The eye balm helps to minimise the appearance of puffiness and dark circles thanks to combination of soothing and hydrating natural ingredients, and its light-reflecting pigments. Don’t worry about getting the right shade though; the illuminating eye balm has a colour match tint that naturally adapts to your skin's natural colour to help conceal your dark circles.
The eye balm contains hyaluronic acid that’s perfect for adding moisture and hydration to the delicate under eye area, a part of the face that can dry out quickly thanks to the heat and allergens like pollen in the air, and helping to plump up the area.
It also contains cucumber extract which helps to calm, soothe and refresh your eyes to stop them from appearing too tired. Finally, red algae extract helps to regulate osmotic pressure under the eyes, which helps to minimise fluid retention and eliminate puffiness.
One reviewer on beauty retail websiteSpace NKleft a glowing five star review about the product, saying: “I really like this illuminating eye balm as it brightens the under eye area without emphasising it too much! I would wear this on day I don't want to put concealer on and want a more natural look and the feel of skincare! This product is the perfect product for a no makeup-makeup look and is so lightweight! Definitely recommend it for people that want a brighter under eye!”
Another fan of the product said: “I have used multiple eye creams but this is the first one that has made a difference. It instantly brightens the dark circles and has a nice texture that feels soothing on the skin. Great product.”
One reviewer was a little confused by the pigment in it, writing: “I got a tube of this in a Beauty Box and took it out to use as a regular eye cream without reading any reviews. I am confused as this has some colour to it and its texture is not as thick as I would expect a balm to feel. I don't know if this should be used under or over SPF so I reach out to it very rarely.”
According to the Medik8 website, however, the product should be applied after cleaning, before applying your moisturiser and SPF afterwards, just as you would with a regular eye balm.
What’s more, the does-all product is currently reduced on the Medik8 website, with the price slashed from £36 to£21.60 here .
